O-Care 'fix' extends to bare-bones plans (I thought these were garbage plans?)

The Obama administration is planning to allow individuals whose health insurance was cancelled under ObamaCare to buy catastrophic plans once intended mainly for young people.

Under the plan, individuals who are unable to renew their current health insurance will be able to purchase bare-bones coverage, according to a source connected with the health industry.

Current rules say that to qualify for a catastrophic plan, individuals must be either under 30 or qualify for a "hardship" exemption. The Obama administration's new guidance will argue that individuals whose 2013 plans were canceled and who determine that other options are not affordable should be able to purchase bare-bones coverage.

Just yesterday evening, at our local good-ol-boys round table salon and tête-à-tête in our country propane and hay store, we were reviewing possible future scenarios regarding the devolution of obamacare and obama. I posited the following:

1. That if the Republicans just twiddled their thumbs about pretty much everything for next 3-4 months, obamacare would come so unraveled that the Democrats would beg the Republicans to save them, and that regardless of any legislative changes that might be made in a bipartisan fashion, obama would veto it all, preferring to see the complete destruction of the medical system and the needless deaths of hundreds of thousands as well as the total destruction of the Democrat Party for at least two generations.

2. That it was highly likely that obama would soon totally panic over the chaos wrought by obamacare and descend into utter lawlessness by attempting to govern completely by diktat. There was also a reasonable probability that obama’s attempted dictatorship would become so severe that Congress would be forced to initiate impeachment.

It would appear that this second prediction is already starting to occur.

Anyone knows the details of these new plans yet? Premiums, deductibles, limits, coverage?

Those are the best plans Obamacare has in the regard that they actually are insurance. They would make sense for a single 20-30 somethings. Pair them with some type of gap plan and it wouldn’t be bad for other folks too.

“This law is invalid anymore. “

It really rather kind of is. There are so many exceptions, “fixes,” waivers, and, so on that the law really doesn’t have a meaning anymore. I don’t know how insurers manage it. I don’t now how the IRS enforces it.

Some posit that single-payer is waiting in the wings but I don’t know how such a thing would even get a breath in Congress after this. What’s the pitch? “You know that last really great utopian health care fix we passed that, um, er, was supposed to cost you less and make your life better? Well, it didn’t work and now we want to take even more of your money and even more power over you to fix the problems we made with the last big fix. Totes for real.”

They’re heading for ruining the government’s credibility with the masses on the issue and also destroying the private health insurance market at the same time. End result? We may be heading back toward cash-for-services doctors. They may have strangled their own golden goose.

I'm sure they'll just change up the smoothly written, fully functioning code at healthcare.gov to get right on that.

By December 23, of course.

Did they give these plans a name yet?

They now have Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum plans. Is this the Rotting Wood plan?

If you like your garbage plan, you can keep your garbage plan but you have to get canceled first.

Going back to “cash for services,” would be the one biggest, single change to effectively rein in the cost of healthcare.

Frankly, there has long been discussion that the only kind of health insurance should be these catastrophic type plans.

You don’t have car insurance to buy gas or get the oil changed.

“Doesn’t being a citizen of the US under the Obama presidency automatically count as a hardship?”

Only if you’re in a ‘targeted-for-more-hardships’ group. You know....Christian, Conservative and especially rich, white male.

“Is this the Rotting Wood plan?”

No, it’s the Fiber Board (soon to be Card Board) plan. Stay tuned for the Crumpled Paper plan (the end result and goal all along).

What part of “the Obama leftists seek to destroy the USA” are people too stupid to comprehend?

Rule by executive fiat, a dictatorship, will not end well.

This law was passed by Congress. Yet the executive branch is changing it on the fly - bypassing the legislative branch.

Why aren't the Republicans complaining about this? spineless worms.

Excellent idea. The costs of medical care only skyrocketed after insurance became common.
