FoxNews ^ | Dec 20, 2013 | Perry Chiaramonte

When the USS Ronald Reagan responded to the tsunami that struck Japan in March 2011, Navy sailors including Quartermaster Maurice Enis gladly pitched in with rescue efforts.

But months later, while still serving aboard the aircraft carrier, he began to notice strange lumps all over his body. Testing revealed he'd been poisoned with radiation, and his illness would get worse. And his fiance and fellow Reagan quartermaster, Jamie Plym, who also spent several months helping near the Fukushima nuclear power plant, also began to develop frightening symptoms, including chronic bronchitis and hemorrhaging. ...

Hard to imagine the US didn’t know.

I would think that the USN would have radiation detectors that were always “on”.

“Hard to imagine the US didn’t know.”

A nuclear aircraft carrier would have radiation detection equipment. I can’t imagine the captain didn’t deploy it and get a running report on conditions. So, it would be the US Navy that didn’t inform the crew.

Something is strange here. The carries are designed to detect radiation and crew members were sampled.

The Reagan is a nuclear-powered ship. It has hundreds of trained nucs in its engineering department, including a Chem/Radcon Division (or two) full of Engineering Laboratory Technicians. If the ship didn’t send some ELTs along with the other sailors to monitor radiation levels, then the command is negligent beyond imagination!

“The officers and crew of the U.S.S. Reagan (CVN-76) and other vessels believed that it was safe to operate within the waters adjacent to the FNPP, without doing the kinds of research and testing that would have verified the problems known to the defendant TEPCO at the time.”

horse pucky. The US government and the US military have the responsibility to do our OWN testing for the safety of our OWN people. Not wait for some Japanese company to give them “test” information.

Our intel community knew what was happening, or should have. We have strategic assets to track radiation incidents. The US Navy has some of the best nuclear experts in the world...they didn’t know...or suspect.... bupkiss?

We should find out what stupid obamite State Department or Pentagon forkwad ordered those people into that situation so rapidly and incautiously, as if the US navy is the world’s 9-11 or meals on wheels. At a minimum our personnel should have been given iodine pills to protect their thyroids

and they should have been given the TRUTH and follow up care within days of our government CERTAINLY knowing full well what had happened and was happening, and what they had been exposed to.

One of the few groupss trained to be around Nuclear power and energy is duh, the US Navy. It would seem this is in the realm of the 9/11 health claims.

Are you suggesting our government and the Navy didn't know anything about the radiation?

I have a hard time believing the navy didn’t know that the water was radioactive.

Hard to imagine a U.S. Navy ship doesn’t have some kind of radiation detectors on it too.

A nuclear powered super carrier doesn’t test its water for radioactive contamination? Pathetic.

What in tarnation does that have to do with this?

Is this an attempt to discredit those in the Navy who became seriously ill?

Yes....but the sailors would have a tough time suing the US Navy...a private company is another story.
