No. The issue is was and always will be social. It’s about how the massed deal with the outliers. The political aspect of this is merely politicians following the wind, the current wind is mostly OK with gays, so the politicians mostly are too. Politicians very rarely lead, they’re born followers.

The issue right now is quite political. It stopped being a social issue to be left in the hand sof private parties after Bill Clinton became president and began pushing the gay rights agenda for the military.
