Roosevelt County clerk, deputy quit over gay marriage (NM-would be forced to issue licenses)
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | December 21, 2013 | James Monteleone

The Roosevelt County clerk and her deputy resigned Friday to avoid issuing same-sex marriage licenses as required by the New Mexico Supreme Court’s landmark opinion Thursday legalizing same-sex marriage statewide.

County Clerk Donna Carpenter, an elected Republican, and Chief Deputy Clerk Janet Collins told other officials of the eastside New Mexico county that they were leaving their jobs because they disagreed with the unanimous Supreme Court ruling.

They personally opposed issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples, Commissioner Jake Lopez said.

The county clerk “said she would rather resign because she wasn’t going to provide any licenses to people who marry like that,” said Lopez, a Democrat.

“She feels pretty serious about it,” he said. “I had no idea she would quit. She hadn’t even mentioned that she would quit if that would happen. I think everybody expected it (the Supreme Court decision) to go the other way.”

On Friday, Carpenter told the Portales News-Tribune she could not issue same-sex marriage licenses and have “a clear conscience.”

“I felt like I’d be letting down the majority of people who voted for me,” Carpenter said.

God Bless you 2!!!!!!
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Wise decision, thus avoiding many stomach-churning experiences that would give one nightmares.

If more people would stand up to this insanity, it could be stopped dead in its tracks. But most instead just ‘go along to get along.’

Sadly these clerks will pay a price for commitment; the people of NM will strongly endorse gaydom.

NM is a high-unemployment and low-pay state, isn’t it? People there like government.

“They did the right thing by resigning,” said Ivey-Soto, a Democratic state senator from Albuquerque. “They recognized that being a county clerk means following the law.”

Really?

Maybe they should have stayed and acted like Lib bureaucrats. First propose a study of how to implement the changes. The study would take years. Second develop a list of increasingly difficult steps that the couple would need to complete prior to getting a license. Third create after the fact rules such as keeping your mate locked up at all times.

Think gun rules the Libs have created to prevent the 2nd amendment.

Wow. Amazing. How many people actually give up their livelihood for their principles these days?

I’m impressed, and pleased that there are a few such people left.

And am pleased that the Lincoln County Clerk is refusing to issue them so far.

I’m amazed. People that are willing to stand up for the their principles are few and far between, especially in an economy and a location where new jobs are few and far between.

People making principled decisions; it gives a person a reason to have hope!

I don’t think they will in Roosevelt County.

It is, and we have been here going on 4 years now - but while it is booming there is still much to be desired. While we contribute and earn our living, I don’t see us staying long term, and will probably end up in Texas or back on the West coast before its over.

Hobbs, NM is absolutely booming.

As it did in the 1960's and 1970's.

Then, 2/3 of the population just left in the early-to-to-mid 1980's.

I was working as an executive for an institutional mortgage investor at the time and we owned entire city blocks of foreclosed and vacant single-family homes and commercial real estate.

“They really had no choice - they would be sued personally for non-compliance, possibly criminally charged for non-performance of their duties, and removed from office. Bravo to them for standing up for what their conscience told them was wrong. Maybe one can compare in some small way to the few German public servants who refused to agree with edits issued by Nazi’s against Jews early in Hitler’s reign. We are at the time when Christian beliefs are overturned in favor of humanistic notions that anything goes - gay marriage, abortion, etc. and the rights of the majority are held hostage to the demands of the minority in-your-face Godless crowd.

You are so right. This is the “spiritual war” that is being covertly waged against mankind. And what I mean by that is....Satan has a demonic system of government.

“12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12

A government, in which LITERAL battle-plans are being drawn up against us, to destroy us. To keep you from an eternal life with God. And he does this by deceiving you into doing this YOURSELF, by denying Christ. He wants...no...YEARNS for us to go to Hell with him. If we are going to fight the “Good” fight, then we MUST face this battle by putting on the WHOLE Armor of God. It is the only way to BEAT Satan.

The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

(Note: Many of these ‘authorities’, ‘rulers’ are MEN in leadership positions, being LED/demonically controlled by Satan to carry out his plans.)

Also, we must be aware that the impending darkness coming our way, the nwo....is Satan’s final attempt at destroying mankind before being thrown into chains. Particularly, God’s people.
