I figured I didn’t need a /s tag.
Before the election there were many who said just that - it would be better to have Obama than a mormon.
Not all disliked him because of his religion. Many felt he was much too liberal based on legislation and court rulings in MA. They chose to ignore the 95% of the legislature and courts in that state controlled by Democrats.

No, not really. Supporters of Obama tried to stir up dissension on that point -- divide and conquer. But I don't know any conservative or Republican who thought that way or said anything like that. That was only liberals trying to stir up conflict.
