Fears multiply amid surge in deportations

NEW ORLEANS — Karen Sandoval's promising life in this city fell apart in one day last summer when she went to buy school supplies for her two daughters.

Sandoval, a Honduran immigrant here illegally, was riding with the man her girls have always called their father. Immigration agents, seeing a dilapidated car, pulled them over. They released Sandoval but detained her partner, a Nicaraguan also here illegally, and he was soon deported.

Now Sandoval, 28, is grieving her loss and scrambling to support her children without her partner, Enrique Morales, and the income from his thriving flooring business. She sees no future for the girls, who are both American citizens, in her home country or his. So Sandoval is facing the possibility that she may never see Morales again.

"It is very difficult to explain to two little girls that Daddy will not be with us anymore," Sandoval said.

Since taking office, President Barack Obama has deported more than 1.9 million foreigners, immigration officials announced last week, a record for an American president. The officials said they focused on removing criminals, serious immigration offenders and recent border crossers, with 98 percent of deportees in 2013 in those groups, while sparing workers and their families. Obama is also pressing for an overhaul of immigration laws with a path to citizenship for those here illegally.

But immigrant leaders say the enforcement has a broad impact on their communities, with deportations still separating bread-winning parents from children and unauthorized immigrants from family members here legally, including American citizens.

Let me get this straight.

According to the the new pravda, an illegal immigrant who

can’t speak English has a promising future, but the blacks

who have been here for generations don’t.

He’s also undercutting flooring businesses run by citizens and legal immigrants.

RE: “Since taking office, President Barack Obama has deported more than 1.9 million foreigners, immigration officials announced last week, a record for an American president.”

The Center for Immigration Studies has been all over this ludicrous claim.

Link:

http://cis.org/ICE-Illegal-Immigrant-Deportations

More than half that number comes from Border Patrol arrests that were never counted in the past.

Also, CIS debunked the claim that Obama had set a new record against other presidents.

They compared him to GWBush at this point in his administration, and Bush won, even though Bush supported Amnesty as much as Obama.

I can't find the link for that story, but it's on the CIS website some place.

“Enrique Morales, and the income from his thriving flooring business”

“Immigration agents, seeing a dilapidated car, pulled them over.”

So if he has a “thriving flooring business,” how come he’s driving a dilapidated car? Oh, I know, it makes him feel closer to Honduras or Nicaragua, because that’s what all the cars there look like!

I think there are jobs out there you may have to relocate to find them. Been retired for 2 or 3 years decided I would get a job. Looking part time found many jobs here in my small town, at each I was given an app and told to fill it out, and so I left went home and filled it out. Bought them back and in all but one instance was met by some kid with bleached hair, spiked, nose ring, and tattoos telling me to leave it and he would put it in the pile.

That wasn’t going to happen, all my personal info in the hands of a child that looked like this, no thanks. So I tried to go around the gatekeepers by asking for the manager, no go, tried that at 2 businesses 3 times then I tried to go around by phone. Highest I got was an assistant manager who could not hire me anyway.

After several different attempts at several different businesses finally by phone got hold of the owners wife of a different business she had a brain. Sent in an app and was hired.

Jobs are now being filled in this area by retirees because, I am told, A when they hire young kids they don’t show or only for a day or two. B It is, so the owner tells me, they don’t know how to work and have no work ethic at all C they don’t have any interest in learning the job. D They are plain lazy. This is what I have been told. I have ran and owned small businesses in the past it was not this bad even 5 years ago.

If you want a job, even a job a few years ago you wouldn’t have considered, you have to earn it by your persistence.

Merry Christmas!

Did that happen in New Orleans? If it did I must have missed it. The NOPD and state troopers as well as the area residents do not take kindly to people backing up traffic. But with Mitch Landreiu as mayor he probably restrained the police.

Nothing stopping them from leaving to be with him. The flooring business couldn’t have been that good, they were driving such a dilapidated car that it caught attention...
You brought this on yourselves, I don’t share your grief.

Why didn’t he marry the woman? That would be the honorable thing to do. But wait, honor isn’t in the game plan, is it?

fta... Obama has deported more than 1.9 million foreigners, immigration officials announced last week, a record for an American president.
**************************
That’s BS! Eisenhower had 5 million illegals deported in “Operation Wetback”.

Also, 2 million deportations only represents maybe 20% of the illegals in the US.

This constant BS about separating minor children from their parents is a liberal mantra. Minor kids are the responsibility of their parents, so if the parents are deported the kids go with them. If the kids were born in the US, then when they reach majority age they can go to a US Consulate in their country, present proof and apply to legally enter the US as a native born citizen.

I’m also curious how the man mentioned in the article was able to run an apparently money making flooring business without falsification of legal documents, like the SS card.

“Since taking office, President Barack Obama has deported more than 1.9 million foreigners”.....

If indeed they were actually deported, he let them and all their relatives, sneak back across the Rio Grande once again. Soon, they will become citizens by default (The de-fault of odumbo)

Depends on where they lived. In some 'hoods a mechanically sound but beat up looking car is the best defense against it being stolen or vandalized.

According to the the new pravda, an illegal immigrant who can’t speak English has a promising future, but the blacks who have been here for generations don’t.

Willingness to actually work has a bearing on that. And did the article state that he couldn't speak English?

I'd willingly trade that kind of illegal for an equal number of thugs, hoodrats, their third generation EBT babymamas and methhead trailer trash to be sent to the country of origin.

I reread the article and it sounds like the “illegal” could speak English.

My point was that according to the the media, the “dreamers” can dream but the downtrodden citizen is hopelessly lost.

In other words, they report with forked tongue.
