I would have thought someone talking about bitter clingers to God, guns, and religion while running for president would have evoked more passion, but hey, what do I know. Other than that more people watch cable tv than presidential campaign speeches.

ok, I agree with the part where he says Hollywood ducked themselves. I believe we may be witnessing an awakening. and I definitely believe Christian might now come out of the closet and profess their faith as loudly as jews and muslims.
however, I still have to say their is a confusion about free speech. I think we all know that in the constitution it says, the government cannot pass a law to shut you up.
it doesn’t, and by definition of our republic, it cant, tell a private entity they have to allow people to say whatever they want while in their employ.
take the nfl as an example. for marketing reasons, the nfl tries to be vanilla and squeaky clean. do any of us doubt that there wouldn’t be some type of action if tom brady when off the cuff about gays.
its not easy to swallow (only see a pun if you want to), but a and e can hire or fire in a manner that they feel reflects how they want to be perceived.

I don't take exception to the way the writer phrased that statement, and I don't think he's being a weasel at all. Even the family (in their recent statement) said that Phil's language was "course". I agree with the family, and like them, I also believe that he had every right to say it however he liked.
Not to mention the fact that Phil's exact language left no room for fuzziness or ambiguity. It was precise, grown up language, that struck the fast ball right on the sweet spot, and left the stadium for a home run.

Hate to burst 'is bubble now, but McCarthy was RIGHT, and proven so decades later.
I agree and I'm tired of it.
There is a time for nuance and a time to speak plainly. Being polite and nuanced has brought us to where we are. Bold is better. Its better to just cut to the chase and speak clearly.
The fact that plain-spoken Christians like Robertson are such a rarity in public life is itself shameful. I'm even looking at myself; there is a time for polite and a time for direct. Right now is a time for unvarnished and direct.
Yes, well, if we were operating by strictly legal guidelines and our US Constitution, not to mention NOT being hit by every dirty trick they could devise, that would never have happened in a just world.

McCarthy was Borked, and they are trying to do the same thing to Robertson. They did it to Palin and she fought back; Robertson to his credit is fighting back to.

Well he did talk about, well, orifices. A bit crude, but not quite vulgar.
And so they can. But they are not exempt from the consequences. Duck Dynasty has a bigger life than A&E and this brouhaha just proved it.
