Supposedly Snowden knows which of the telecoms allowed their customer phone calls to be illegally bugged and when the bugging was started.

That "intel" is supposed to be classified.

Anyone who believes anything but that ALL of the telecoms caved and allowed ALL of their cusomters' phone calls to be bugged is naive.

Anyone who believes that Poindexter's programs were ever turned off is also naive.

So what intel did Snowden reveal that anyone with commonsense can't figure out from the little bit of info we already know?

Snowden is letting everyone know which CIA agent said that. A rope has two ends.

I’d like to have a vote if Snowden or James Woolsey swings by a rope.

I like Woolsey but this is just a lot of hot air from him. The NSA has no right to spy on all Americans the way they do. Snowden did us all a favor. The idiots at NSA have only themselves to blame for---
  1. Ed Snowden getting such access to their "jewels"
  2. For Snowden spilling all kinds of NSA secrets to China and Russia which is terrible. But blame the NSA bureaucratic empire builders for this collateral damage. What a surprise that they exercised such loose control over contractors (like Booze-Hamilton which employed Snowden)
  3. NSA contractors have made out like bandits in the expansion out to Utah for data storage and expansion at Fort Meade. 95% of the reason for NSA's gross expansion (mission creep) into domestic spying on all Americans is just to enrich the connected contractors who are all good buddies with the little Napoleons who have run the NSA for years.
  4. These same little Napoleon moron bureaucrats will get their mega-payoffs when they take the revolving door or FedGov retirement then go working for the NSA contractors
  5. Same as with all DC sleaze...follow the money
  6. NSA is just another Washington DC money pit, one of many DC money pits and is why the greater DC region is the wealthiest in the nation.

I mean literally. His boat took some fire, and they had rice bags on the boat, and a piece of rice got ricocheted into his butt.

That’s how he got his purple medal he threw over the WH fence.

We all knew that the Russians and Chinese were going to get the "crown jewels".

Before 911 intelligence was much more compartmentalized. After 911 we were told that we could have stopped it if we had "connected the dots" through a central data warehouse.

Well we got our wish. Now our enemies have one-stop shopping for all of our secrets.

And with the lax security that allowed Snowden deep access who is to say that the NSA didn't also let in a deep cover Chinese and/or Russian and/or jihadi spy?

Maybe this whole Snowden thing is a cover for the NSA realizing they had inadvertently given access to all of one or more of our enemies and wanted to pin the blame on some low level figure rather than pointing their fingers at themselves.

Ed Snowden is an NSA creation. With such lax security this was bound to happen. The NSA honchos are idiots who only have themselves to blame. They should be up on treason charges for Russia and China getting our NSA secrets.

If it was so easy for Ed Snowden to acquire all this NSA intel then prolly others have been doing it for years. But keeping their mouths shut and getting paid off by Russia and China for the intel. How many foreign nationals (like born in China or Taiwan or Russia) are working at the NSA or for NSA contractors? There’s your answer. We don’t want to discriminate do we? Political correctness is deadly to a nation.

(sorry but Taiwanese can be turned to work for China)

Yes, and very few people in the US knew how to read or speak Arabic right after 911, so the NSA, CIA, etc. were desperate to find anyone with these language skills.

"Oh you're a refugee from Iraq and claim to be a victim of al Qaeda and can read and speak Arabic? Well then here's your high level security access to the NSA. Welcome to the team!"

Dennis, you are correct on who is responsible. The NSA is responsible. Heads should roll on this breach.

\Snowden on the other hand understands what was given and sold out his Nation. Hiding in Communist Russia or Marxist Brazil is not acceptable.

He is a traitor first and foremost.

Ed Snowden is a coin with two sides. You have him spilling NSA secrets to China and Russia... The flip side is he revealed NSA domestic spying on a scale no one imagined. If not for Snowden you would not see so many demands for the NSA to cut back on domestic spying AKA meta-data collation and storage. Plus storage of emails, phones calls etc out in Utah. Why do you think the Utah facility is so large? To store a lot more than meta-data.

So what value to place on Snowden revealing the scope of NSA domestic spying?

“Hiding in Communist Russia or Marxist Brazil”

Huh? Russia is far more of a capitalist country than we are now so this statement is just silly.

As far as heads rolling, get serious. Heads never roll for those in charge. Things will continue as before, sure they may come out with some window dressing but that’s about it.
