I expected this. Even some of the presumed beneficiaries of all this draconian political correctness can spot overkill. This broad generalizing only serves to gain them fresh new enemies. Not all muslims want to encourage sharia type restrictions.

The student union of one college I went to had a on-campus Pub(bar), the idea was to deter the students from drinking and driving, driving to an off campus bar.
But once the drinking age was raised to 21 (I was gone by then) they closed it.
Liberals do this all the time, express outrage on behalf of groups that are NOT outraged or would be expressing it themselves. It’s this mindset that gets Christmas kicked out of schools.
The English are a pretty laid back and tolerant lot these days, but telling them they can’t have their beer is sure to start a riot.

You called it. They are just trying to play the nice guys here. They don't want fellow students to get mad at them for banning booze. When their numbers are larger, they will DEMAND sharia type restrictions. That's how they play the game.
Many of the Muslims in England were actually just cultural Muslims and really didn’t -and don’t - want to be part of the new caliphate. They wanted to live like Brits but celebrate family Muslim holidays, but also marry anybody they want, etc.
Sadly, England is kowtowing to the radicals - who hate these non-fanatical Muslims almost as much as they hate the British.

Well, I happen to think that Prof. Gillies is a secret Israeli Mossad plant: by denying the campus bar licence renewal he is deliberately fomenting anti-muzzie resentment based upon a perceived PC cave-in to muzzie sensibilities and therefore stirring up a widespread non-Muslim backlash against the local beard-and-burka crowd.
At least I hope that’s what he’s up to. Right now there’s a grocery chain in UK which has okayed muzzie clerks denying service to customers with pork products and/or alcohol in their carts.
