Of the cuts to veterans’ benefits, Erick Erickson, Editor-in-Chief of RedState.com, wrote: “Republicans are going to have to own this.” Paul Ryan himself went on the Hugh Hewitt Show and boasted that while Democrats wanted no cuts, he “got 70% of what [he] wanted.” Ryan further defended these cuts in a USA Today op-ed while writing that we owe our troops “a secure retirement when they come home.” This is terrible policy, but the politics are just as bad. Republicans in vulnerable swing districts are frantically drafting bills to restore the funding they just fought to cut. Some face a particularly acute challenge: they may run against veterans next November.

I still cannot fathom what Ryan, Boehner, and Cantor were thinking.

I hope this sticks to Ryan. He owns it more than any other Republican. He can kiss his Presidential aspirations goodbye. Boehner and McConnell also own it. And of course all the Dems.

In other words, it is business as usual. I know it is not nice to hate people, but I hate these slime sucking scum bags.

Congressmen should be paid a privates wage while privates should receive a senators wage with the upscale special healthcare plan in case of injury while on duty.At least they protect the country while congress enjoys all the benefits of being full of themselves as a special ruling class that have all the security they can dream of.

Congress has broken faith with the United States. They have failed to impeach Traitorobama.

Yes, it’s right to pin this on Ryan’s a** but only a a handful of Republicans, House and Senate, voted for this crap and it was signed into law by you know who.

It passed in the House with an huge majority of GOP house members voting for it. The final passage tally was massive in terms of recent political legislation votes. In the senate! I believe it got nine GOP votes, more than enough to pass it. The vote for cloture was even higher. There was some good to the bill in that it relieved the military from some (and only some) of the Sequestration burden that was chocking it, however, Hagel and Ryan conspired to pay for that bill on the backs of the very men and women who have served and are serving that same military. It was perhaps the most callous, cruel, and downright mean provision in legislation of the past several decades. And, they did it to our veterans and military days before Christmas.
