Who are the losers in the 'Duck Dynasty' flap?
The Washington Examiner ^ | 12/27/13 | CHARLES HOSKINSON

Now that A&E executives have surrendered to the will of hundreds of thousands of "Duck Dynasty" fans and welcomed Phil Robertson back to the show nearly 10 days after creating a firestorm when they suspended him for expressing views about sexuality that are pretty much shared by many other conservative Christians, it's time to see who the winners and losers are.

The winners: Robertson and his family. They held fast to their values and learned how deep their fan base really is. The family's admission of regret about his statements to GQ was no surrender, given that his comments were never about hate as opponents had insinuated.

The losers: A&E executives, of course, who knew all along that the Robertson family members were conservative Christians, yet did the world's worst imitation of Claude Rains in "Casablanca" when gay groups complained.

And while we're on that subject, the other big loser is GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination, which showed how far it had strayed off the path of encouraging tolerance into the dark woods where conformity is enforced by witchhunts **snip**

That's right: Two groups of smug, urban sophisticates got outsmarted by a backwoodsman who shoots ducks for a living.

This HAS been fun to watch. The family hung together with their values, while the groups that tried to take them out simply lost it. This is one of the first wins in the culture wars in a long time. Watching the professional feigned outrage mongers smoke an exploding cigar has been fun.

A&E led with their chin on this one. They are shocked to find much of America and most of their DD viewers don’t hold their same pro-gay views.

So is it true A&E along with the family will be doing pro-homosexual PSAs? If that’s true, Robertson lost big time.

Pandering to 1% of the population against the most popular cable show EVER with feigned outrage has its limits.

:-)

If A & E hadn't backed down, let's just say their business model wouldn't have been imitated a whole lot in the future.

Two points:

1) Anyone who has spent time with "urban sophisticates" knows that they are often not too smart.
2) Anyone who knows anything about Phil Robertson knows that he is not at all dumb.

I don’t get it—DD merch supposedly flew off the shelves just in time for Christmas. When/if DD returns with a new season, do you think the ratings will be better or worse than before he was suspended? How can A&E possibly be losers? I guess if they decide to not do the show anymore.

I can see GLAAD being a loser. But I wonder if GLAAD would rather have conservatives upset about a cable reality show star getting suspended or two actual states of the union being forced to accept ‘gay marriage’ (despite one of them having an actual constitutional marriage amendment) by fed judges? I mean, not saying that the DD dynasty thing isn’t important, we need rallying points. But no way is it as important as what happened in Utah, yet the ratio of coverage was/is overwhelmingly one sided for the cable reality show.

I’m looking forward to seeing how bad the fags and what-evers make themselves look by continuing to whine and whimper.

Somewhere in A&E there is a group of executives wondering just how the hell could they have made such a mistake. I have no doubt at all that they looked at “Duck Dynasty” as there own “Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo”; a vehicle for the more ‘cultured’ part of the country to sit on their asses and laugh at the silly antics of those people not fortunate enough to live in LA or New York or DC. But they picked the wrong group of yahoos and created a monster of a hit with people who actually relate to the Robinsons. Now those ‘yahoos’ have outsmarted them and outplayed them and forced them to back down. And they hate that.

The first spectacular loss for the Professional Victims Class, which is the predominant bloc of the Democrat Party.

But whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.Matthew 10:33

Matthew 10:32

So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven,

Jeremiah 17:10

“I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”

Phil, is very good Christian and as such stood by God’s teaching..Now we all need to show the ungodly we will not put up with all the things they are shoving down our throats and taking away from us..

Sorry, not gonna happen. Even if they actually did one or two, to say the Robertsons lost in any way manner or form is silly. It woke up a major portion of the population to what the grievance mngers were doing, and trust me, that’s not losing.

The PSAs are a fig-leaf to cover A & E’s arse. Roberson will say, as he did during the flap, that people should love and respect each other....and that includes the treatment of witnessing Christians, one would presume.

IMO, the whole ‘suspension” flap was nothing more than a big publicity stunt to hype their new season. Next week? WOW! What a coinkydink.

Rev. Jackson is still warming up on the on deck circle.
I expect he'll blow off on one of the Sunday morning “news” shows.

Exactly. While conservatives were up in arms about a TV show, the agenda marched boldly forward last week--and hardly anyone even noticed.

That was one heck of a publicity stunt! Even though I have never seen the show, I would like to after hearing all this. I can only wonder how much in terms of real dollars, this has cost vs. how much they would have had to spend in advertisements to generate this level of interest...

“......Now we all need to show the ungodly we will not put up with all the things they are shoving down our throats and taking away from us”.....

It is time we take this country back and show the world that the ungodly DO NOT own it. Unfortunately I feel this too will all pass without others stepping up like Phil Robertson has done.
