Romneycare: Health care spending in Massachusetts highest in the nation
American Thinker ^ | 12/30/2013 | Rick Moran

The fact that Romneycare is the progenitor of Obamacare and that the state-run health insurance program has led to citizens experiencing the highest per capita cost for health care in the nation, should make even President Obama hesitate to use the program when touting his own legislation.

We're probably not going to be hearing anymore about Romneycare as a template for Obamacare.

Examiner:

On Oct. 30, as President Obama was under fire for the botched rollout of his signature health care law, he visited Boston's Faneuil Hall. It was in that hall in 2006 that then-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, with a smiling Ted Kennedy by his side, signed a sweeping health care overhaul into law that would eventually become the model for Obamacare.

As with Obamacare, the Massachusetts program (also known as Romneycare), expanded Medicaid, mandated that individuals purchase government-approved coverage, and provided subsidies to individuals to purchase government-designed insurance plans on a government-run exchange.

In his October remarks, Obama used the Massachusetts experience to argue that Obamacare could work, despite what the naysayers claimed.

"All the parade of horribles, the worst predictions about health care reform in Massachusetts never came true," Obama said. "They're the same arguments that you're hearing now ... Care didn't become unaffordable; costs tracked what was happening in other places that wasn't covering everybody."

RomneyCARE and ObamaCARE are NOT about delivering
excellent medical and surgical care.

They are about DENYING it, taxing it, Feeing it,
controlling it, and raising minimums and copays.

Were they designed by doctors? No.

They were designed by EXEMPT POLITICIANS.

You don’t see company expansion or new business operations coming into Mass. And you find that most everyone was already complaining about the rate of deductible costs within the state. Cost? Nothing they did....did anything to settle the cost problem.

More brutal grammar from the Educated One:

“Care didn’t become unaffordable; costs tracked what was happening in other places that wasn’t covering everybody.”

Health care spending in Massachusetts highest in the nation

That makes no sense. Does that mean that increased regulation and government involvement do not lower costs?

And MA isn’t even swamped with Mexican squatters, as the border states are. It is financial suicide for CA, TX and CA.

MA is swamped with Brazilians (eastern part of the state)
... many foreign ‘refugees’(like the Boston Marathon Bombers) and a large homeless population (one of two states-with NY- that guarantees shelter to homeless)

Obviously, reality is wrong.

RommeyCare ObamaCare - both government programs.

The Republicans did not give us much of a choice in the voting booth.

Doesn't RommneyCare also get Federal dollars? Are they counting in the government subsidies when they say it is the highest in the nation or is the taxpayers’ money left out of the calculations here? Would that make it even higher?

In the last debate Romney just agreed with everything Obama said.

Romneycare was more expensive than predicted right out of the gate.

Truly a model for Obamacare, yet the libs ignore the lessons learned there.
