The White House used a Sunday morning statement to admit that only 1.1 million people have used the federal Obamacare website to sign up for the presidents healthcare network by Christmas Day.

The total reported signups are at least 3 million fewer than the 5 million people whose health-insurance policies were cancelled prior to Christmas by President Barack Obamas ambitious tax-and-healthcare scheme.

The short statement didnt provide critical details about the claimed sign-ups.
The plan claimed 1.1 million people have enrolled, but did not say what the enrolled term means. A person is not insured until he or she pays the first premium and receives a welcome packet, but the administrations and most states have kept these figures closely guarded.

The statement was also silent about the critical issue of who signed up for the plans.
If fewer young and health people sign up for the plans, then insurance companies will be stuck with a customer base of old and sick people. That skew will likely spike prices in late 2014, and likely prompt White House officials to shift billions of dollars from taxpayers to cover the financial losses by their allies in the insurance companies.
Analysts say that a low number of signups is evidence that few healthy people are enrolling alongside the sick people who need health-benefits immediately.
The statement also ignored the number of people whose plans were cancelled by Obamacare.
The cancellations were intended to force people to buy more expensive healthcare plans via the Obamacare website. The sites plans are more expensive than pre-Obamacare plans because officials want to use the government-mandated profits from middle-class Americans to subsidize healthcare for lower-skilled people, including millions of immigrants.

Winning!
How many have PAID???
More of Mr. Obama’s “Common Core” - style math.
over 6 million lose their insurance because of Obamacare. Only 1.1 “claimed” sign-ups for insurance... = a LOT more than 3 million “net loss”.
That's going to bend the demand curve down.
That is entirely okay per Obama because these poor huddled masses, longing to be entitled, have the hopes and dreams of getting free healthcare once the entitlement subsidies have been cleared to go.
Also note that of that 1.1 million who have “signed up” the vast majority just enrolled in the expanded medicade, which of course, was already insovent.
(Sniffle) I'm all broke up about it (SOB).

The commoners need to be punished. Only the all-pervasive, all-knowing, all-wise state can punish them properly.
+1
Met a couple over the weekend who had a private insurance policy and got a letter in mail that told them it was canceled as it was “substandard”.
they liked their policy but apparently it did not contain provisions for birth control.
Since they were in their 70s, they really needed that, didnt they?
Now they said their premiums skyrocketed and they can no longer travel.
Obama continued: "And if you like your plan, you can keep your plan."
(Valerie reminded him later that he was not supposed to read the blacked-out parts.)
How many have PAID???”
I understand they have until January 10 to pay before a retro cancellation takes place. If this is true, a doctor would be crazy to see anyone during that first ten days of January without the patient paying up front. It is just going to be crazy for those of us who do work with doctors.
Bump
They don’t tell you they are counting anybody who has a plan in their “shopping cart”. I would guess that fewer than a third of the one million have actually fully paid for and processed their plans.
they have already admitted that only 50K had paid last time- so it is far fewer than 1/3rd (that would be 330thousand and I doubt even the 50K number was accurate)
An unknown number of self-employed who wouldn't qualify for the subsidies are going to throw in the towel and call an insurance broker or call an insurance company directly and buy their insurance. I don't doubt that a still unknown number of now-29 hour/week employees of now-less-than-50 employees businesses aren't going to negotiate the website or pay for Obamacare insurance. The parts of the Affordable Care Act I'm becoming increasingly confident about are that it will make care less affordable, and that it will provide less care. How much is yet to be seen. Net-net I'm pretty sure it's going to be a minus, but I'm unsure of how much.
Given the problems with the site... a) I question their numbers - I doubt it is really 1.1 million just like I doubt their employment fantasies. b) As you and others point out, have these people really signed up, or just started the process? c) How many have actually paid? d) How many really have policies with insurance companies, and how many are lost somewhere in-between?
