Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio vowed to act quickly to abolish horse-drawn carriages in the city.

"We are going to get rid of the horse carriages. Period,” de Blasio said in response to a question at his press conference announcing his schools chancellor pick Monday.

“It’s over,” he said.

Never been there, never going there, unless a coming war takes me that way.

Yeah, good luck getting anyone to pay for a “romantic” electric vehicle ride in the park, de Blasio.

De Blahblahblah stinks -- bad.

Chinese-American bus companies have made a bang-up business of running very cheap bus rides from Chinatown to Chinatown up and down the east coast from Boston to DC. It's a great way to visit New York, and I've enjoyed those rides immensely. Maybe those companies can counter this ridiculous prohibition with coolie rides in Central Park. They can form a union, so it will be all good with the Democommies. And I'm not being racist here, just sarcastic.

"We are going to get rid of the horse carriages. Period”

Even if you like your horse carriages, you can't keep your horse carriages. Period.

Not that they should be banned, but there should at least be more attention paid to the horses’ conditions.

Point well taken. I think it's over the top to simply ban them without studying whether improvements can be made.

I kinda wonder if it is more inhumane for a horse to spend his days pulling a carriage on the hot, noisy mean streets of New York City or to be dog food or Frog Food.
Because that is where they will end up. Does de Blasio
think the carriage operators are just going to keep these animals in a Kentucky Bluegrass type stable for the rest of their lives? No Sir, the French really like horse meat so the younger ones get an ocean voyage and the older ones a quick ride to Purina.

To the leftist Lieberals the horses belong in flyover country for the lesser chic crowds.

If it was unionized city workers caring for the horses it would be understandable that they were not treated the best.

Ya deserve what you have voted for, NYC morons.

Considering the wide margin of victory for that communist, I'm truly going to enjoy watching them suffer up there. Schadenfreude!

Holy cow...

Horses NEED to ‘work’ like this or they’ll wither and DIE.

Central Park is beautiful ALL YEAR ROUND. The horses are not mistreated, at least in public where they spend most of their days.

Ugh... common sense should be put on the “endangered species” list!

America's cats and dogs are thankful for these horses and their sacrifice.

Why does it matter that he is white and she is black?

I second your question. Do not see why that should matter. Now the L-word thing: I would never want to marry a liberal.
