The legendary and controversial Bob Grant has died.
Grant spent the majority of his radio career talking in New York City. Grant moved to New York in 1970 to host a talk show on WMCA-AM, where he spent seven years steadily building his audience.
Leaving WMCA in 1977, Grant worked his first stint at WOR, and later moved to WWDB in Philadelphia before returning to New York as the cornerstone of WABCs new talk format in 1984. He remained at WABC until his much-publicized firing in 1996. Ten days later, Bob Grant was hired by WOR.

INCREDIBLY influential, talented man. RIP!
The MSM employees, et al. blamed the emerging modern conservative movement for a "climate of hate" that led Oswald to assassinate JFK.
Joe Pyne was among the first victims of that nonsense that liberals do so well. It's what the left is trying to do to conservative talk show hosts still.
Grant took Pyne's place.
Pyne was very popular though I never knew his syndicated show while I lived in Cincinnati. I did like his short-lived TV show a couple of years after he was forced off radio. They will never admit it by Levin and Savage both copy Pyne IMO.
“Get off my phone, you fake, phoney, fraud!”
“Mario azende me! Tuzeprovenos sfachim! And he is.”
“Your influence counts. Eeeeuse it.”
A legend.
“Get off my PHONE, and stay off!!!” Love you, Bob Grant. RIP. Bob
Sad news. I LMAO at “GET OFF MY RADIO YOU .....” He was fired a couple of times for comments. Once was when he explained how a Black woman got a publicity job when he had her on the line. He was right. He was absolutely fearless.
“”A caller phoned in to the show saying he was upset with a woman who was blaming the police for what happened to her sons. [This woman] was the public relations director or community relations director of WCBS newsradio,” he said.
“I stupidly asked the caller if he knew how she got that job. The caller said he didnt know and I promptly and arrogantly said, I will tell you how. She passed the gynecological and pigmentation test thats how! WOR was forced to fire me even though I had given the radio giant the biggest overnight ratings they ever had.””

Wow, caught me completely off guard. My brother, Jimmy from Brooklyn, was a longtime caller to his show.
Rush starts on WOR today if I am not mistaken and WOR was one of the stations that had to drop Joe Pyne due to that nonsense that liberals do so well; Grant accepted the offer to replace Pyne on WOR and other stations across the Country. The liberals have been trying for decades to force Rush off the air.
Sad. Ironically Rush is on WOR today for the first time.
What sad news..he was one of my hero’s.....”Why don’t you come on down to the studio so I can punch your dumb nose down your stupid throat”
Did he know Frank from Queens and John from Staten Island?
Oh wow I remember your brothers calls....Bob would introduce him by saying..”Here comes Jimmy from Brooklyn wih a hammer in one hand and a sickle in the other”
Grant was one of those who leave an empty space when they go, a space that can never really be filled.
New York radio was a unique and wonderful place back then, but is no longer.
I hope Long John and Shep are waiting to greet you.
Rest in peace.
The GREAT Bob Grant!I had feared that he had taken ill when he(inexplicably)disappeared from his 1:00pm-2:00pm Sunday show on WABC.I was a “FAN” for more than 20-years.I NEVER missed him and was listening when he predicted that the sole survivor of Ron Brown’s plane crash was Ron Brown. He was”The KING of Talk Radio”!!!!!”It’s Sick Out There And It’s Getting Sicker”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A giant of talk radio is no more. :(
Think how many watts he’ll be authorized to talk from in heaven ?!
