Why on earth do the people of Ithaca stand for this?

Ithaca is the most liberal city in America. It doesn’t help that their mayor is a 25 year old Obama clone and the media is basically playing interference for him in the same way the national press does for Hussein.
To a Leftist, no mere human is more important than Political Correctness.
After the Fort Hood shootings, Army Chief of Staff General George Casey said:
"Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse,”That's the mentality. Allowing people to get a bad impression of blacks is worse than any crime of violence.
As long as it isn’t THEM, they are okay with it. Thing is, that so many whites are acting like the Jews of Sodom and Gomorrah, deliberately shutting their doors to people who have come running to them for help.
