The Obama administration on Friday asked the Supreme Court not to exempt Catholic groups from an ObamaCare requirement to offer contraceptive coverage, after the high court gave them a temporary reprieve earlier this week.
The court filing comes in response to a surprise order -- issued shortly before coverage under the law went into effect -- by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. The justice issued a stay late Tuesday preventing the government from enforcing the so-called contraceptive mandate against the Little Sisters of the Poor Home for the Aged.
The group of Catholic nuns argues that the contraceptive coverage requirement violates their religious beliefs. To get around the mandate, they claim they'd have to sign a "permission slip" authorizing others to provide contraceptives and "abortion drugs" -- or pay a fine.

And when the fricking Muslims start objecting to something in PPACA? We all know what will happen.
That's because there would all of a sudden be MILLIONS OF NEW CATHOLICS, which would destroy the plan................
I have always been disgusted by Obama’s big government liberalism, but this is maliciously evil. This sort of government demand is too offensive for words.
The Sisters have to just say no - the politics of non-violent action must now become a tool of the right.
but the church continues to advocate for democrats.
every protestant group could be redefined as “Protesting Catholics”
lol
These organizations should just announce, if they lose in court, that they will not comply any way.
Eggs Ackley. The pirate Roberts’ treachery will continue. He is owned. But lest we forget, Booosh appointed him.
Exactly. There would be no way for the government to determine who is Catholic and who is not. And if you exempt one religious group, you must exempt all religious groups. Abortion and contraception is also against Jewish and Muslim religions as well. That would cover just about everybody........................
'David' vs. Goliath. I really like the chances of the Little Sisters of the Poor to win this battle!
And ... this "stay" by Sotomayor (?!) seems to me a positive for the upcoming SCOTUS decisions (Conestoga and Hobby Lobby) over the HHS mandate and religious freedom.
“Little Sisters of the Poor” huge upset ping ....

Actually, that is a great plan.
It is my understanding that religious groups, providing services only to members to their own faith, are exempt from the Obama-care mandates. The Catholic hospitals should simply declare that they only provide services to Catholics and have everyone seeking service sign an affidavit declaring themselves to be Catholic or turn them away at the door. This will allow the hospitals to avoid the immoral mandates and, who knows, maybe a couple of souls will actually end up being saved in the process.
Chuckle.
