Potential presidential hopeful and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee walked back his support Thursday for Sen. Lindsey Graham, saying that a video he made last month praising the South Carolina Republican was not actually an endorsement for his re-election campaign.
Huckabee narrated and appeared in a television ad last month from the South Carolina Conservative Action Alliance, touting Lindsey Grahams foreign policy chops. In the ad, Huckabee compares Grahams leadership in combatting radical Islam to former President Ronald Reagans leadership in winning the Cold War.
Theres a leader in South Carolina who knows what it takes to win: Sen. Lindsey Graham, Huckabee says, praising his push for answers on Benghazi, and his support of Israel and a strong national defense.
Call Lindsey Graham and thank him for being a conservative champion of peace through strength, Huckabee says at the end of the ad.
Graham is up for re-election this year, and several Republican candidates have emerged to challenge him on the right. The SCCAA ad was interpreted by many to be an endorsement of Graham for instance, both RealClearPolitics and RedState posted items describing it as such.
But Huckabee said that was not his intention in a statement posted Thursday on the website for his PAC, HuckPAC.
To be clear, I havent endorsed Lindsey Graham for Senate, Huckabee wrote. Last year, I voiced an ad thanking him for support of Israel. It was not an endorsement for his reelection. In fact, I dont plan to endorse anyone in SC Senate race in the primary but I will certainly help in the general election if asked.
Huckabee took a jab at Graham, suggesting his campaign was misrepresenting the ad.

“Ignore the previous post. I posted a comment in Klingon to the wrong thread.”
Haha. That’s hilarious!!
“there’s a leader that knows what it takes to win...”
What, mike. You made an expensive ad to thank him for supporting Israel. Wouldn’t a phone call have sufficed? Who paid for that ad?
The man is now trying to walk it back and he is being disingenuous. Take responsibility for it Huckabee.
He knew what he was doing. The timing of the ad was suspicious. The polls were showing a death knell for Graham. If it wasn’t an attempt to resurrect Graham, then Huckabee is too stupid to comment on anything, let alone run for POTUS.
We’re not stupid, Mike. You might sucker some sheep, but most of us know who the “father of lies” is.
Get off the stage. Stop running defense and interference for the Rove cabal and riding on the Lord’s good name to do it. He won’t be amused.
Eat mor road kill Huckaphony.
Every time I see Huck’s name I cringe...
When are REAL FReepers going to let (make) this guy just GO AWAY... He’s NO BETTER than any “useful idiot”... I guess some think it’s ok because he’s our idiot...
JUST GO AWAY HUCKABEE... You are not relevant...
2 x 0 still equals 0.
Yup, old weathervane Huck must have seen a poll somewhere.
10 seconds after I saw that ad I was punching out a RED HOT email to Huckabee. The ad is a LIE. At least he knows how I feel. If many people here in SC reacted as I did, then maybe he heard us!
That's like saying that a cold would be better than pneumonia. I wish Huckabee would just go away.

Good for you!! I’ve written similar emails haha. We may not beat all these worthless people, but they sure as hell will hear from us. I don’t get as many fundraising calls or emails anymore. They’ve apparently gotten the message that they will be getting nothing but an earful!
I’m a central committee member and have publicly praised all three of our major candidates for the Pubbie nomination for governor. None of those statements was an endorsement for the nomination. I’ll take Huck at his word for now.
FOX with the Huckster is a joke.
Bought and paid for.
Just like the other MSM whores.
“Ill take Huck at his word for now.”
Yeah, but you know how this works. Get some endorsements to fool people into voting for you again, the idiots that pay no attention, but then see Huck being for somebody, either officially or not, and they say “oh, Huck’s for Graham. Then I’m voting for Graham.” Get enough of those people to beat back a primary challenge and boom! Back in the senate for six years to screw the people and help the democrats.
Mike Huckabee is a moderate enabler. I wouldn’t believe a word he says.
Well said, in a kind way. The unvarnished truth about Huckabee is a lot less kind.
So glad we didn’t nominate Huck a few years back.
Yes, greed, nepotism and corruption run deep within him... there I go not being nice. Guess I blew that resolution! ;-)
So you would be happier with Christie? I am not even a big supporter of Huck, was just saying
Well, that's not what I was implying, but since you bring it up, I suppose I would.
Christie's a liberal Republican; Huckabee's a liberal Republican, too. He's also a jackass who thought there was a hunger among Limbaugh listeners for a moderate alternative.
But let's not go to war over it. I doubt we'll have to make that ugly choice.
I wasn`t going to go to war :) just thought I would run that by you, was a slow day
