Rand Paul to Lead Class-Action Lawsuit Against Obama over NSA Spying
Breitbart ^ | 3 Jan 2014 | Matthew Boyle

Posted on 01/03/2014 3:27:24 PM PST by Farnsworth

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is leading a class-action lawsuit with hundreds of thousands of Americans against President Barack Obama’s National Security Agency (NSA) over its spying on the American people, Breitbart News has learned. Sen. Paul will be discussing the lawsuit in an exclusive appearance on Fox News with host Eric Bolling at 10 PM ET on Friday. Breitbart News has learned that Paul will file the class action lawsuit soon in the D.C. District Court and that he will be filing it as an individual, not as a U.S. Senator. For a U.S. Senator to file a such a class action lawsuit against the President of the United States would be extremely rare. With regard to NSA spying, this is the first class action lawsuit against such activity. This allows the American people to join together in a grassroots manner against President Obama’s NSA for the first time in the legal system, as all other lawsuits have been individuals suing against the agency. The focus of the lawsuit will be how the NSA's actions violate the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution. The lawsuit will target the NSA’s metadata program. Via Paul’s campaign website, more than 300,000 Americans have already indicated they will sign up for the suit when it is officially filed in D.C. District court. Americans can join the lawsuit by visiting Paul’s website. The class action suit from Sen. Paul against the president comes on the heels of two different conflicting court rulings in individual suits against the NSA, with one court ruling that the NSA was within its bounds to spy on Americans shortly after a different court ruled the NSA’s actions were unconstitutional. The conflicting decisions all but guarantee an eventual Supreme Court-level case on the matter.

I contemplated moving to his father's district in Texas.

Now, Tennessee seems to be a good choice.

I admire Rand Paul for a variety of reasons, but I'm not so sure about this.

The more I think about it, the less a problem I have with what the government has done as regards collecting and retaining metadata and the like.

When they start opening my mail and monitoring my coversations then I'll have a major complaint. Attempting to cast a wide net to establish connections among the bad guys is exactly what I want them to be doing.

"collecting and retaining metadata and the like."

Which includes a record of your precise location and that of virtually everyone else. That is serious invasion of privacy. Would it be okay with you if the government sent an agent to follow you 24/7 and record your whereabouts?

"Oh no worries, he always stays out of earshot" wouldn't strike me as all that comforting.

Good article but why did you combine six paragraphs from the original into one when you posted? Hard to read. The <p> is your friend.

We do not need a stupid lawsuit against the NSA. We need the 101st Airborne leading a raid against the NSA to seperate out the traitors from the patriots. The traitors get hanged, and the patriots set the NSA back on mission.

You can expect the clowns in the federal courts to “decide” that Paul and his “hundreds of thousands of Americans” don’t have any “standing” against the Kenyan “messiah” and will toss this out. Barry wouldn’t have it any other way. The D.C. District “Court” is loaded with Barry’s activist butt buddies.

My understanding is the government scans all communications for keywords, so your stuff is being looked at and I’m assuming your not a bad guy.

Don’t know why it did that, I C&P the article like it is at the link, thats how it came out. Of the few things I’ve posted, it’s the only one that has behaved that way.

“in a perfect world, your solution would be the one I would support....but it’s not”

Why the hell not? (I had to look up what I posted.) There’s not a thing wrong with the 101st Airborne kicking butt. You got a better idea?

I’m getting tired of perfectionists looking for perfect solutions. Gear up, arm yourself and charge!

You ready?
