Florida Free Republic Colleagues,

This evening I discovered that a great Patriot (endorsed by Col. Allen West) is running for US Congress in Florida's 13 Congressional District.

This is the Congressional seat recently opened following the passing of Congressman Bill Young (85) a couple of months ago.

Below is information excerpted from Brig. Gen. Mark Bircher's (Ret) campaign website.

I would encourage you to BOTH contact and help with his campaign, and if possible, make a MARINE donation.

Visit Brig. Gen. Mark Bircher's campaign website.

My Free Republic post tonight has "not" been requested or solicited by anyone, including "anyone" associated in any way with the Mark Bircher Campaign for Congress.

=============================================

Brig. Gen. Mark Bircher's (Ret) Background

Mark Bircher was born 1953 in Pensacola, Florida, to Lorraine and William Bircher. William Bircher served in the Navy and fought in the Korean War.

He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1976 and was commissioned a Marine Corps Second Lieutenant. He later graduated from Stetson University College of Law.

MILITARY SERVICE

Mark served on active duty and as a reservist from 1971 until his retirement in 2009 as a Brigadier General. As a Marine Corps aviator he flew the F-4 Phantom, F-15 Eagle as an exchange pilot to the Air Force, A-4 Skyhawk, F/A-18 Hornet, and OV-10 Bronco.

From 1985 through 1987 he served as a member of the Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels. He is a graduate of the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TopGun).

Mark's leadership positions include:

Commanding Officer, Marine Observation Squadron 4

Commanding Officer, Marine Fighter-Attack Squadron 142

Deputy Commander, Marine Aircraft Group 42

Deputy Commanding General, First Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, CA

Commanding General, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, New Orleans, LA

Commanding General, Marine Forces South, Miami, FL.

Mark deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His awards include the Navy Distinguished Service Medal and Bronze Star Medal.

PRIVATE SECTOR EXPERIENCE

Mark works as a commercial airline pilot flying the Boeing 777. He is a member of the Florida Bar.

PERSONAL

Mark and his wife Jacqueline have been married since 2001; their son Bill is 10. They live in Seminole, Florida.

Mark’s hobbies include reading, history, Constitutional history, astronomy, the Tampa Bay Rays, and anything involving his son. He is a member of the Naval Academy Alumni Association and the Blue Angels Association.

POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY

Mark believes the United States should return to its founding principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and individual liberty.

During the course of his career, Mark learned that results matter and that leadership is more than a title.

He intends to take those lessons to Washington. Representing the interests of the people of Florida's 13th Congressional District, he will work to end the irresponsible spending that burdens our children and grandchildren with crushing debt, stifles our economy, and restricts the economic growth that is the key to job creation. He will work to restore the personal liberties of the American people.

He believes public service to the nation is a duty of citizenship to the country he loves.

BGen Bircher must win a January 14th Republican primary in which he is pitted against a pair of much more experienced and well-known politicians: David Jolly, Young’s former general counsel and lobbyist; and Kathleen Peters, a pro-choice state representative.

A special primary election will be held Jan. 14 for the three Republican candidates: Mark Bircher, David Jolly and Kathleen Peters. The winner will face Democrat Alex Sink and Libertarian Lucas Overby in a March 11 general election.

Pinellas Congressional District 13 goes from south Pinellas to Dunedin, with portions of downtown and southern St. Petersburg cut out.

Unless “pro-choice” means Peters is in favor of school vouchers, supporters of infanticide are pro-abortionists. To call it anything but lends their abhorrent stance a veneer of respect for which they do not deserve.

How? Sorry, I'm not willing to suck up rhetoric and platitudes by either side anymore. I want specifics or no deal.

Is he a Conservative? Or a RINO, while we honor Marine service for elective office it is far better to hold a Constitutional Conservative view-point!

I can’t get over how everyone seems to think that a VEt is somehow a conservative or willing to have a strong military - do the names Kerry or Hagel mean nothing, how about Shinski or .... it too easy 40% of enlisted men and women voted for Obambi. Maybe it would be good if some of his ideas not just his ribbons saw the light of day.

Gentlemen ...

Your cynicism is perfectly appropriate.

Hell, those Benedict Arnold "wonderboys" Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan (Pro-Illegal-Amnesty) both have turned TRAITOR to American Conservatism.

So what do we do at this point ?

All I know is that Mark Bircher seems to pass the "RINO smell test" in this election.

Why ?

Because immediately after Congressman Bill Young died, this guy "David Jolly" appeared, with a EXTREMELY well-funded "jack-in-the-box" political campaign ...

complete with lots of TV commercials, featuring no other than Bob Barker, former host of The Price is Right.

That smells to me like BARRELS of RINO Chamber of Commerce (Pro Illegal Amnesty and Common Core folks) cash, diverted to "their best man".

You know, the kind of squishy stealth RINO candidate (like Florida Senator Marco Rubio) who's willing to sell his soul to get elected, "Principals be DAMNED".

Col. Allen West (Ret) knows all about these Marco Rubio - Paul Ryan scumbags ...

and Col. Allen West (Ret) chose to endorse Brig. Gen. Mark Bircher (Ret).

Frankly ... that's enough for me.

At the same time, every candidate should be vetted as much as possible.

My support of Brig. Gen. Mark Bircher (Ret.) is based upon my intuition that he's the "right stuff".

Hey ... those guys you mentioned ...

Kerry, Hagel and Shinski ...

aren't worth the water in the toilet flush they deserve ...

strictly, "on the record" of course.

You’ve got some kind of odd spacing thing going on. Separates each sentence (or portion thereof) with 1-3 lines of whitespace. If this is for emphasis, its dorky and unnecessary. If not, try using the ‘Preview’ button before posting.
