Al Qaeda Flag Flies over City Where Marines Fought Largest Battle of Iraq War

Just over two years since American troops entirely withdrew from Iraq, the black flag of Al Qaeda flies over the city of Fallujah’s government buildings in Iraq’s western Anbar Province. It was there that several American contractors were killed and strung up over a bridge in 2004 and American Marines fought the biggest battle of the Iraq War.

“The capture of Fallujah came amid an explosion of violence across the western desert province of Anbar in which local tribes, the Iraqi security forces and al-Qaeda militants have been fighting one another for days in a confusingly chaotic three-way war,” reads a report in the Washington Post.

From the WaPo article:

...“At the moment, there is no presence of the Iraqi state in Fallujah,” said a local journalist who asked not to be named because he fears for his safety. “The police and the army have abandoned the city, al-Qaeda has taken down all the Iraqi flags and burned them, and it has raised its own flag on all the buildings.”

At Friday prayers, held outdoors and attended by thousands of people, a masked ISIS fighter took the podium and addressed the crowd, declaring the establishment of an “Islamic emirate” in Fallujah and promising to help residents fight the government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and his Iranian allies.

“We don’t want to hurt you. We don’t want to take any of your possessions,” the masked man told the crowd, according to the journalist, who attended the prayers. “We want you to reopen the schools and institutions and return to your normal lives.”..

I wonder what kind of reception Obama will get from the Marines if he goes to the gym or golfs at Marine Corps Base Hawaii tomorrow morning.

Don’t the camel-jockey iraqis know how to fight for their country? It’s their turn now.

According to O Afghanistan was the “real war” we should have fought, and he has wasted our treasure there as well

“We want you to reopen the schools and institutions and return to your normal lives.”..

Funny, that’s what Obama is always telling us...

What do you think we should do about these nations? (That is politically realistic.)

Resurrect Saddam?

Invading Iraq was the biggest blunder is US foreign policy history.

Oh, and Bush gave us ethanol and banned Edison light bulbs too.

My cousin for in the battle for Fallujah. He was seriously wounded, and that wound stopped his Marine Corps career.

I am asking God to condemn Obama and send him from the presidency in His and by His way.

All in accordance with the Marxist-in-Chief's grand design.

America demands Justice for the Fallen of Benghazi!

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

"What do you think we should do about these nations? (That is politically realistic.)"

There is no solution against barbaric Islam, including their moderates. The West either capitulates or goes all out and wipe them out with everything we have. Of course, that will not happen.

Nothing. Not our country, not our problem. Unless and until they’re a direct threat to us it simply isn’t our concern.

Unfortunately, I believe that saddam was a direct threat. But our involvement should have ended when he was swinging from a rope.

As an American citizen, and in the interest of providing for the common defense, I would tend to endorse the idea launching an attack against any location flying the Al Qaeda flag. I would consider it an invitation for a military engagement at that very spot.

Again, flying the Al Qaeda flag at any specific location should be interpreted by the United States in one of the following ways:

That way, the people who live in such an area would be highly motivated to ensure that the Al Qaeda flag did not fly anywhere within a bomb blast radius of them or their loved ones.

Freedom isn't free. Not for Americans, and not for Iraqis.

The Iraqi government and its People have to do better...

At this point its too late for anything but a strike on Iraq to prevent their going nuclear... ( which I doubt Obama will do) I think we are looking at decades of turmoil

Fox covered this tonight and did a good job. Obama must have pleased some Bush haters like Tea Party Terrorist by throwing away anything that was gained .... but history shows that weakness such as this ultimately leads to larger conflicts. Lets hope we will be ready when that conflict embroils us again.

Since returning from a year tour in Iraq in 08, I have often wondered what would happen to the country with the opportunity that was given to them. The answer is now coming in, and it does not look very good. The lives lost or altered all for seemingly nothing are an insignificantly small price to pay for the greater glory of our dear leader.

Our political masters treat us as less than serfs.
