New York Times editorial blasts de Blasio inaugural speeches ("Graceless and Smug")
Daily Caller ^ | 1/3/2014 | chuck ross

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s inaugural was filled with “backward-looking speeches both graceless and smug” The The New York Times said in a scathing editorial Friday.

The paper’s editorial board called out three inauguration participants for their demagoguery and defended former Mayor Michael Bloomberg from the speakers’ jabs at his tenure.

“Worst among them, but hardly alone, was the new public advocate, Letitia James, who used her moment for her own head-on attack: on the 12 years of Mayor Michael Bloomberg,” read the Times editorial. James, who now holds the office formerly held by de Blasio, brought a 12-year-old girl named Dasani Coates to the stage to highlight child hunger.

“Ms. James turned her into Exhibit A of an Inauguration Day prosecution: the People v. Mayor Bloomberg,” said the Times of Coates’ appearance.

The New York Post reported that James inaccurately claimed to have something to do with shedding light on Coates’ story.

The Times editorial also criticized “the pastor whose invocation likened New York to a “plantation.”

Rev. Fred A. Lucas Jr. of Brooklyn Community Church peppered his bombastic invocation with several references to slavery and bondage, likening the institution to the city’s current struggle with economic inequality and poverty.

This idiot will get reigned in by the liberal moneyed elites

I doubt it. Look at what they've allowed obama to get away with.

Shouldn’t the New York Times understand by now that every left-wing event turns into another rendition of the hate-filled, over-the-top Paul Wellstone funeral?

Unfortunately for the New York Times, this particular funeral led by a Communist mayor will last for four years, by the end of which the words ‘’New York’’ will have such a bad connotation that the newspaper of record will be eager to change its name.

That’s in the abstract. When they start getting blown away when they are walking to the theater or jogging in central park, you’ll see the screaming start.

. . . why Mayor deBlasio’s (Wilhelm’s) keynote speaker Harry Belafonte doesn’t return home to his native Jamaica, as he detests this country and his home country is ruled by a government much closer to his political philosophy.

Harry lives on a huge, secluded estate in upstate New York, in a county that's 70 percent Republican, far from any messy street people or Jamaicans.

I read the entire editorial. If anything, it is very praising of the Marxist Mayor and will carry his bucket for as long as he wants.

I wonder how long it will take for Manhattan to degenerate. Eliminate stop and frisk will help the criminal class return.

The New York Times, defending Michael Bloomberg, against Mayor de Blasio.

There's no good guys to root for; not *one* of the three mentioned. I hope they *all* crash and burn.
