An 88-year-old World War II veteran was thrown in jail for not being able to afford repairs to his business. Kenneth Knudsons jewelry store was deemed a public hazard zone and in need up updates.
The city of Horton, Kansas offered to do the repair work for $10,000 dollars and apply it to his taxes. Knudson, whose jewelry store business is already struggling, said that was too expensive.
On December 23, he appeared in court and told a judge he did not have the money. The judge then fined Knudson $100 dollars and put him in jail for one night.

“As of the census[2] of 2010, there were 1,776 people, 732 households, and 453 families residing in the city.”

Honestly, it just makes you realize how deep the corruption goes these days. Gov’t corruption, cronyism goes all the way down to the dog catcher level.
What is the name of this “Judge” who thought it was appropriate to put an 88 year old WW2 Vet (= national treasure!) into a jail cell because of $100. This when dope dealers and serial stalkers are getting probation, This when that 16 year old wealthy idiot drunk driver in Texas who killed four people is also getting probation? Who, Who said the Owl?
Because they can. A show of power.
Being a judge is a big responsibility, so why do we make it a job for life in many ways (even if they have to be re-elected, it’s often a rubber-stamp with no opposition).
Here’s an idea: Judges get a three strike rule. Screw up like this two more times and you hand up your robe, permanently.
Based on what? How about the Court of Common Sense?
Horton Police Chief John Calhoon told Hiawatha World, There are crumbling bricks and a large crack that could pose a hazard. [ ] If we ignore the laws, then that creates a liability.”

They all are pictured in front of an American Flag yet. Just a bunch of FFs!
His awning is in better shape than the Hairport next door.
Kathleen Sebelius happened to Kansas. She was the Governor before she headed HHS.
