Does it make sense to allow someone who has broken our immigration laws to be admitted to the practice of law? Most people would answer ,No, but then not much makes sense when it comes to the morass of immigration policy these days. This is why the decision by the California Supreme Court this week to admit Sergio Garcia to the practice of law in the state should come as no surprise.
Garcia came illegally to California as a 17-month-old baby, brought by his migrant-worker parents. He lived in California until he was 9 years old, then returned with his family to Mexico in 1986. In 1994, at age 17, he accompanied his father back to California to work in the fields picking almonds.

Linda Chavez has always been for amnesty.
Back in 1986 she ran for Senator here (Maryland ) against Barbara Mukulski and lost.
Illegal is a fairly simple word. Consisting of a mere 7 letters te word ILLEGAL should be easy enough for even the most naive novice to find in any good dictionary.
How it is that mizz chabez has landed a job as a writer without ever having encountered the term ILLEGAL and gaining some grasp of its meaning is BEYOND ME!
Rewarding illegal behavior will teach them not to come here.
She most certainly is. Sergio Garcia came here as a toddler then went back to Mexico for 8 years and returned illegally at 17.
The number of permanent visas available is too small to accommodate US labor demands
I was unaware that we have a shortage of lawyers or that we issue visas for them because of US labor demands.
Major a$$ kssing to get half of the U.S. population to vote for Democrats. Same politicians who are to benefit from it seem to be unaware that the illegal immigrants are also a significant part of what contributed to and help create the exploding deficit we have today. OK. Well maybe they are but they don’t give a damn about its consequences. Just another reason to get rid of them.
"Daddy! Daddy! Every time a bell rings, an illegal immigrant is subsisized by the US Government and a wounded veteran gets his benefits cut!"
I'm in tears. Not.
Every single one of his cases will be challenged. You’d be crazy to hire him on.
He’ ll probably want to be paid in chickens.
There is no longer any legitimate legal authority in California. Governance there is nothing but fiat and force, exerted to the benefit of the politically favored. The rule of law now having been exposed as nothing more than pathetic joke, California is officially a banana republic.
Hatch, McCain, Chavez etc... I'm glad I didn't realize back then how many of them were opportunists, liars and phonies.
I don’t read her anymore. She used to be OK.
