When lives are in danger
Though your own is in doubt
You have to go in
You don't have to come out.

- Fireman's Creed

Andrew Wood lived that yesterday. And he got three people out. His colleague Wayne Sheridan rescued another.

Soldiers and firemen are among the most selfless of people.Policemen often act bravely and selflessly as well.

I still remember a picture from a couple of years ago showing a woman trying to make herself jump from a window of a burning building. Below her, the firemen all raised their arms to her, calling to her to jump, ready to take the damage to their faces and bodies as a jumper landed right on top them. The glow of the fire and the selfless faces of those looking up, promising to catch her, urging her to do it. No hesitation. Breathtaking.

Law enforcement, fire fighters, and military are the only jobs I know where they know that they might not come home when they leave for work.

But they still get up and go to work.

Thanks for that post, naturalman1975. It’s good to know that there are still heroes in this world.
