Taipei, Jan. 4 (CNA) China's most advanced fighter jet J-16 has been revealed online in flight mode, the latest in a series of news items on developments in the Chinese military since last November.
An image of the J-16, a 3.5-generation multi-role twin-seat fighter jet, was posted on the China-based Dingsheng military website Friday along with other types of Chinese fighter jets, such as the J-11 and J-15.
The J-16 jet shown online was believed to be a prototype of the jet fighter because it carries the serial number '1601.'
It marked the first time that the warplane was shown in flying mode.
Military analysts speculated that the plane should still be in the test-flight stage.
Some Chinese netizens said the plane is undergoing tests at a People's Liberation Army (PLA) flight test and training base in Hebei Province in northern China.
The plane was developed by Shenyang Aircraft Corp. for the use of the PLA Navy's aviation corps.
A Shengyang Aircraft Corp. executive was quoted by Chinese media as saying recently that the J-16 could rival Russia's Su-35 fighter jet.
Military analysts said the J-16 was an improved version of Russia's Su-30MKK. It can carry a maximum load of 12 tons of bombs or missiles, including YJ-62 and YJ-83 anti-ship missiles.
Previous media reports said the J-16's navigation electronics were much better than those on the J-15, and expected the new jet to gradually replace the J-15 in maritime battles.
The posting of the J-16 image followed a number of high-profile reports on PLA-related activities since the end of the third plenum of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in November 2013, at which a new generation of leaders assumed power.
One of the stories drawing the greatest attention was China's new aircraft carrier -- the Liaoning -- making its first long-distance voyage to the South China Sea on a testing and training mission.
Other milestones to be highly publicized were the test-firing of the land-based Dongfeng 41 multi-warhead intercontinental ballistic missile and the test-firing of the submarine-launched JL-2 missile.

They had some help from previous occupants of the White House.
Raise the import tariffs. Without America buying all those cheap Chinese imports, China wouldn’t have the funds to challenge us militarily.
We’re putting our own people out of work which drives up government debt, while we support communist China’s rise to power.

As with all posts about hot girls, cars, and military gear, this thread is worthless without pics.
Russia has always known its easier to steal technology than create it. The U.S. has done the same in the past too. Sometimes its difficult to tell whether certain ideas were borrowed or stolen. If you pull the aircraft blueprints and compare them and they match up pretty closely I’d day there is a problem but I’m pretty sure there are no modern nations that are guilt free on this issue.
Bingo.
Bring back American businesses, to America.
The Klintoon filth should be tried and shot for treason.
Okay. You’re correct about the J-16 which I hadnt seen what the j-16 looked like but I do know from what Ive only read this morning that China has completed its Black-Hawk version helicoptor and which is in the process of being tested. Also, in the Osama Bin Ladin rid, one of the stealth helicoptors having crashed, abandoned, Pakistan announcing that it had transferred the downed helicoptor to China ostensiblt to revere engineer. Lets not forget the rocket launching, technology Clinton had transferred to China for helping in his re-election bid.
That’s a Flanker, baby.
It all started long ago..... On a side note, I believe this article supports the "Chris Matthews dementia" theory. Hard to believe the Hardball clown actually wrote this article in 1997.

Oh, I don’t doubt it.
Here, however, the Chinese are boldly copying a Russian design — albeit one the Russians have sold to anyone who can write a check.
So, I guess we can say they are equal-opportunity intellectual property thieves.
“It’s ironic that everythng China, is, has, directly or indirectly based on America”
The things that make China a worthy competitor are a strong work ethic, family values, desire to study math, physics and engineering, and total ignorance of the junk values Hollywood puts out.
It China passes the US in the future, this will be why and not due to theft of a few decades old military secrets.
all true. I have known so many Chinese over the past decade. They all have one thing in common - a tremendous work ethic. They also all desired to lead a good, honest, and “traditional” American life. The best thing we can do as individuals (conservatives and Christians) is to reach out as strongly as we can to Chinese (and China) and embrace them. Welcome them into our traditional culture and help them avoid the mistakes some of us have made. Then, perhaps, they can save us from the fascists.
I agree, it is more of a Flanker clone than anything else.
