Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) gave an interview to ABC’s Jonathan Karl for “This Week” on Sunday. One of the more memorable exchanges came after Karl offered that now that he’s had some time to think about it, was Cruz prepared to finally admit that perhaps October’s government shutdown was a “mistake.”

Sen. Ted Cruz Spars with ABCs Jonathan Karl Over Govt Shutdown

Cruz’s response likely will cause liberals to scream in anger and conservatives to smile in delight:

“I think it was absolutely a mistake for President Obama and Harry Reid to force a government shutdown,” he replied.

An incredulous Karl jumped back into the discussion, sparring with Cruz before finally shaking his head and exclaiming, “Come on!” in thinly veiled frustration.

With that Cruz launched back into his philosophy regarding the Obamacare “train wreck” and peppered Karl with facts and anecdotes about the his positions he and other Republicans stood firmly on last fall.

Check out the clip here:

"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Ted Cruz has exactly what it takes to stand up to the DNC stenography pool a/k/a the mainstream media. This should be the #1 requirement of our candidate in 2016.

First they would need to have some principles to stand on.

Instead, all we get is a group more concerned about where their campaign cash is coming from.

Its not even about being mentally agile.

All he did was tell the simple truth without the least bit of spin.

Worse, Obama’s Official Operating Organs, aka the “press”, do not understand the fundamental connection between proximate causes and resultant consequences ..... at least they lie about it.

They're too busy trying to remember their focus group talking points.

Can't have actual facts and figures mucking up a consultant-approved sound bite.

Ted Cruz thinks it was Obama and Reid’s fault. Unfortunately the Dems and the media have spun it so that the majority of people blame Cruz. He’s not going to change that.
