The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has located the Japanese whaling fleet in the Southern Ocean, kicking off what is sure to be another season of clashes in the remote antarctic waters.

In a statement Monday, the anti-whaling group said that the Sea Shepherd Australia fleet has located all five vessels of Japan’s Institute of Cetacean Research whaling fleet including the factory ship, Nisshin Maru, at 64°44′ S, 162°34′ W, an area that is inside the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.

“The Steve Irwin, The Bob Barker and The Sam Simon are now in pursuit of the whaling fleet, driving them away from their intended poaching grounds, disrupting their illegal hunt, and preparing to shut down their whale-killing operations,” the Sea Shepherd statement said.

It's been a while since the Sea Hippies have been on TV. Maybe this season both the whalers and the hippies can get stuck in thirty feet of "global warming", have their ships crushed and have to walk to the shore while under constant attacks by man-eating penguins.

The Japanese need to drop the IWF like the Norwegians. The Japanese have eaten whale and just about everything else in the sea for thousands of years. It’s stupid for them to think that a bunch of pot-smoking hippies have moral superiority.

Leftists are huge fans of international law, except when they aren't.

The Japanese aren't poaching. The hunt is not illegal.

If these eco terrorists sink with all hands, I will not miss them.

The wanton killing of whales is completely unnecessary. These hippies are inept, dangerous to themselves, and reckless, but they believe in fighting for the whales survival. What is wrong with that? Sorry, I side with the hippies.

The fugitive founder of Sea Shepherd has stepped down from key roles at the militant anti-whaling group, passing the Antarctic harpoon chase mantle to a former Australian politician.

Canadian Paul Watson is wanted by Interpol after skipping bail last July in Germany, where he was arrested on Costa Rican charges relating to a high-seas confrontation over shark finning in 2002.

Kind of hard to eat them if you don't kill them first.

He was actually pretty pissed at that whole situation in the fact that they needed to be “rescued.” He said that it was just a matter of short time that the ice would have broken up and that using tax funds for a faux rescue was unconscionable.

Didn’t some international court deem these jerks to be nothing more than pirates just this past Summer? If so, the Japanese have the right to legally escalate the defense of their ships from these buffoons.

The media is just waiting for some of these idiots to become useful idiots by dying for their beliefs.

Five inch 38’s or five inch 50’s are too large to mount on a whaling vessel, but one of those neat little three inchers will do the job nicely.

WADR, wanton killing would be killing them for fun. The Japs eat them and make products from their corpses. I don't particularly like whaling, but I like left wing hippie pirates even less.
