An alliance of 10 major business trade groups is supporting mainstream Republicans in upcoming Texas GOP primaries, hoping to counter the clout of tea party forces, according to a published report Sunday.
The Dallas Morning News reports ( http://dallasne.ws/Kt23cH) that the Texas Future Business Alliance has begun making donations and sending out mailers. It is supporting Republican candidates who during last year's legislative session backed increasing state spending for water infrastructure development, highway construction and public education.

Tea-Party Ping!
If you want on/off this ping list, please let me know.
Please beware, this is a high-volume ping list!
That’s how they repay us for having their back against the marauding Socialists.
Is Texas this far gone, or is this more overreach by the progs?
Crony Capitalists.
.. and we're all aware that the Colonies were infested with similar gutless vermin during the Revolution.
No surprise there.
Much of ‘business’ is actually pork-seeking, rent-seeking, big government courtiers. They pee their pants at the faintest sign of real competition.
Let’s not pretend anymore that ‘business’ (in the main) is about free market capitalism. Virtually everyone these days is nuzzling their way to the government trough.
It’s time to get our heads out of the sand about this.
They know the tea party isn’t just whistlin Dixie when we say we want a level playing field and an end to corporate welfare.
Exactly! This is not a new thing.
And neither are tea party sentiments new.
This tug-o-war has been going on for over 230 years!
Reason #38 why it is not our Repub party, it is theirs.
Too many damn dims moving here-—been going on for years, now. They are turning our bright red state blue!
I don’t like supporting the party, but it seems unavoidable. If you give to an individual candidate, you get on their lists, and hounded to death. If you go to a caucus or something to support a candidate, you’re swept into the party, and hounded for money.
It’s the same with the Democrats, of course. I supported an individual Democrat for mayor years ago and they have finally gotten the message that I don’t want mailings from left leaning groups. Or maybe it’s because I moved.
Neither of them seems to understand the concept of supporting an individual without supporting their stupid parties.
It sux but its the way things work. Liberals make things intolerable then flee to “red states”.
On the flip side, when they flee “blue states” those states often turn red. A year ago FReepers laughed at me when I said Michigan would be a RTW state.
I have this handy paper shredder in my home office-—I run all this crappe through it without ever opening it.
Yup. Texas has an infestation problem.
Me, I live in a blue state, some argue it’s starting to turn purple. I think that is happening mainly because people like me are just gonna stay put while the blue part of the state moves south to Texas.
so far, it seems my plan is working.
Sorry red states.
Which tends to be the case. There was truth in Ikes warning about the Military-industrialist complex. A hundred years ago, the US Navy had 18-drydocks, the Royal Navy, one. The Royal Navy was three times the size of ours. WE still have military bases that are as unnecessary as some over seas,
They found some liberal donors starting supposed conservative foundations to finance liberal candidates in the Republican party.
I have a tough time believing businesses of any size would be so dumb as to not want fiscal responsibility and Democrats out as to avoid stupid business ending high minimum wages and other regulatory vomit.
Texas has got richer and Austin changed radically after LBJ became emperor of the world. Just look at those monuments to egoism that block the view of the capitol from I-35.
It is what it is.......
