Hollywood execs and radical activists thought they could silence 'Duck Commander' Phil Robertson's religious beliefs when they suspended him from his A&E show. But all they did was increase the public's knowledge of and respect for Robertson and his remarkable family's values. And now we see those Americans also bought Robertson's book -- in massive numbers.
Robertson, who was suspended by A&E for espousing his religious views -- before being rehired following a massive viewer backlash, saw sales of his book "Happy, Happy, Happy" explode after the 'controversy' hit the national news.
"Happy" was originally released this past May -- and had already been the top book in summer sales for 2013.
In Robertson's Dec. 18 interview in GQ Magazine, he said of contemporary society, "Everything is blurred on whats right and whats wrong... sin becomes fine. Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men."
Between the week ending on Dec. 15 and the week ending on Dec. 29, sales for "Happy" increased by 256% percent, according to Publishers Weekly, to an astonishing level for a book already 7 months in release.
"Happy" publisher Simon & Schuster elected to continue selling the title after Robertson's comments were released -- despite demands that they cancel it from radical homosexual pressure group GLAAD. Reflecting GLAAD's weakening influence, Robertson's publisher strongly defended him as well.
Jonathan Merkh of Howard Books, the imprint of S&S which released the title, told Publishers Weekly, "In our experience (Phil) has always treated one and all with the utmost respect regardless of political leaning, sexual orientation or religious views, and we believe that the Phil Robertson we know is more properly represented by this statement from his GQ interview: 'I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.'"
Amen to that!

Well, then! I guess he’s learned his lesson.
This surprises no one with half a brain and a clue about the world. So liberals will be astonished.
So it was all a publicity stunt?
We bought his book a while back and it’s really good.
it’s so good I can’t get my wife to let go of the copy long enough for me to check it out. I might have to buy my own.
LOL It’s worth the read.
