Where the heck are these rear ends going to deploy this vehicle in Fort Pierce? This is beyond the pale and as a local and a former public defenders investigator all I can say is that I am finally getting very jittery about Police behavior. I can not believe the Mayor authorized this purchase. I am certain that our PD no longer needs its cruisers.

I understand that you're excited and upset, but... it's midnight (EST). Is this really "Breaking News" at midnight?
That said, an armored vehicle sure does seem like overkill, don't it though?

If you see my SWAT team roll up in this, its over, so just give up, said Police Chief Sam Baldwin.
The ravings of an insane, power mad dictator. NO police department needs something like this. It belongs in a National Guard Armory. It was paid for with YOUR tax dollars by OBAMA.

Maybe he didn’t. Maybe it went directly to the maniac who runs this Gestapo headquarters. From Obama with love.

Whenever police get these, they always make it seem like an impulse purchase at the grocery store. Well, we have everything we need, let's check out. Hey, gum!
There are not impulse buys, these must be part of a program, which is not to be made public. Same with the billion rounds of ammo, same with every agency imaginable getting a SWAT team, same with fortifying federal buildings.
The most "benign" reason I can think of for all of this is that they are planning for massive civil unrest in a few years, and are prepping for it.
And if you haven't gotten the memo about this, you are on your own.

The cost of maintenance on this vehicle is a huge budget item. I hope the city is prepared for that.

They are expensive to operate. So expect more raids using the forfeiture laws to fund its upkeep.

Hey Chief Baldwin, you wanted to scare people?
You did it. Everyone is scared.
Not just criminals - everybody. Young people, old people, children, mothers, fathers, workers, businessmen, students - everyone. You’ve got the whole American population afraid of you. All of them.
Happy? Is that what you wanted to do? Look at that armoured military vehicle - did you really think that wouldn’t be the effect it would have on the entire civilian population?
Good job, Chief.
One last question - what country is this?

The police are for enforcing the rule of law on the citizenry. The military is for killing enemies of the state, occupying invaded countries, and imposing the will of the government on the occupied territories. So what does it mean when a police force become militarized?

According to Wiki, Ft. Peirce is a city of 43k, with a falling crime rate.
Yep, I can see the driving need for their SWAT Gestapo to have such a toy.
This stinks like Obunghole after a night with Reggie.
DHS is setting the stage, no doubt in my mind.

You could render the 30-ton APC so much static junk with a suitable application of Thermate-TH3 — iron oxide and aluminum chips. Thermate-TH3 is a mixture of thermite and pyrotechnic additives. Its composition by weight is generally about 68.7% thermite, 29.0% barium nitrate, 2.0% sulfur, and 0.3% of a binder [such as polybutadiene acrylonitrile (PBAN)]. The addition of barium nitrate to thermite increases its thermal effect, produces a larger flame, and significantly reduces the ignition temperature. The primary purpose of Thermate-TH3 by the armed forces is as an incendiary anti-material weapon.
