STARKE (CBSMiami/AP) — A man convicted of abducting and killing a Miami couple in 1974 and later stabbing a prison guard to death was executed at Florida State Prison, just one day after the Florida Supreme Court denied a stay of execution.

Askari Abdullah Muhammad, previously known as Thomas Knight, was pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday following a lethal injection at Florida State Prison, the governor’s office said.

The 62-year-old inmate was initially condemned to die for the 1974 abduction and killings of Sydney and Lillian Gans of Miami. Tuesday’s execution was specifically for his conviction in the 1980 killing of corrections officer Richard Burke.

FORTY YEARS after the vicious murders!

At least justice delayed was not justice denied, in his case.

Enjoy HELL, Askari Abdullah Muhammad, aka Thomas Knight.

I just took a crap as my expression of solidarity with this “tolerant” Black Muslim.

Next time Florida, just shoot the bastard when you catch him. He was reaching for a weapon, or his dick, or something.

The victims and their families needed justice a long time ago.

Let me guess: The state of Florida has executed an innocent man, and a handful of middle aged lesbian women in Belgium with names like ‘Helgrithe’ who wear tapestry vest-dresses and clogs with socks and have unnaturally-colored hair styled by an electric hedge clipper are quietly depressed about the whole thing?

40 years from crime to execution.

Too long.

How many of the victims’ loved ones have passed waiting for justice to be exacted? Horrific.

Somebody brave needs to campaign with the vow to expedite the death penalty if one is judged quilty and has explored at least two appeals. The voter support for that kind of ‘will do’ candidate would shock and awe the faint of heart pacifist.

Again my feelings:
Murder a citizen(s) , delay, delay, delay!
Kill a politician justice very swift!

Feb. 15 ,1933, shot at FDR but hit Mayor Cermak.
Mar. 6, 1933, Germak died.
Mar. 29, 1933 . Guieseppi was Executed.

NOT 40 YEARS AND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, LATER!
Maybe we all are not equal?

Murdered two people in 1074, wasn’t convicted until 1980 and wasn’t executed until 2014. That’s what is wrong with the “justice” system. That prison guard’s life could have been saved if the old swift justice of the noose was still in force, but we have too many lawyers now.

How many innocent people, like the prison guard, have been killed by convicted murderers because either their state has no death penalty or the convict wasn’t executed in a timely manner? Anti-death penalty opponents cry and whine about the possibility of an innocent person being executed. That’s a legitimate consideration, but how about the probably thousands of people who have been killed by escaped or paroled murderers? Or prison guards murdered by inmates. Who speaks for them?

The insanity is this scum bag lived for 30 years on taxpayer funds longer than he should have.

I'm glad he is gone but appeals for 30 years is not justice for the family of the victims.

The only reason it costs more to execute than life in prison is because the same people who are opposed to capital punishment are in favor of unlimited appeals. It’s like saying you can’t cross the ocean because it’s too expensive .(because the ONLY way to cross it is by building a giant bridge)

Limit appeals to 2 appeals in 5 years or whichever comes 1st-out of time, out of luck.
