Gunmen shot dead a former Miss Venezuela and her British-born partner in front of their five-year-old daughter, who was wounded in an attack that dismayed the crime-plagued nation, authorities said Tuesday.
Monica Spear, a 29-year-old soap opera star, and Thomas Henry Berry, 39, were killed in what appears to have been a botched robbery after their car broke down on a highway in northwestern Venezuela late Monday, police and prosecutors said.

I had seen Monica Spear on several novelas on Telemundo. She was quite stunning, and I always thought she could easily be a crossover actress like Kate del Castillo who has been popular in English, and Spanish Speaking roles.

This is an "I see what you did there" thing... if these wordsmiths use the word "partner" in place of "husband" enough, the brain-dead readers will soon begin to accept the word "partner" (a known euphamism for queers shacking up) in place of the word "husband".
Soon, homo "marriage" is completely normalized... because someone insinuated as much over and over and over again in the press, and ignorant people accepted it as truth.
Sorry, I know my comment has little to do with crime and violence in Venezuela, or Spanish language soap operas... but there is something going on here I had to point out.
