Republicans are routinely – and, for the most part, wrongfully – mischaracterized by a lamestream American media that has shifted so far to the political left that even Karl Marx would be uncomfortable.
But every now and then, like a broken clock, the lamestreams get it right: Some Republicans can be a little kooky and extreme. And it’s even better when the extreme nature of these few Republicans put them at odds with other members of their party. The ensuing “cat fight” makes for great political theater.
Enter Rep. Peter King, RINO, New York.
Instead of whipping up on the current Democrat regime – that would be President Obama – that is usurping the Constitution and abusing the citizenry by permitting the National Security Agency to scoop up every bit and byte of metadata on Americans that it can possibly store in its mega-data storage facility in Utah (that is, if it ever becomes fully operational), King has chosen a different target for his ire.

And why? Because Paul opposes an illegal government domestic spying program.
King is telling every news correspondent he can get to pay attention to him that he’ pissed off at Paul because the junior senator from Kentucky is going after the administration and the NSA for its unprecedented and unconstitutional data theft. He says that Paul doesn’t know what he’s talking about, and that Paul is merely spreading lies and fear about the NSA and its activities.
Worse, King has even said Paul doesn’t deserve to be a U.S. senator.
“He was also was comparing General [James] Clapper to [Edward] Snowden,” King said on Fox News. “To me, he’s either totally uninformed or he’s part of that hate America crowd that I thought left us in the 1960s.”
“In any event, he doesn’t deserve to be in the United States senate for spreading that type of misperception and absolute lies to be honest with you,” King said.
Okay, now that’s just too much. Time to do to King what the GOP leadership should have done to him long ago: Smack him down.
First of all, to state the obvious, it isn’t up to King to decide who is and is not worthy of holding higher elected office. In Paul’s case, that is up to Kentucky voters, not some loud mouth congressman from New York. To suggest that the man isn't worthy to represent the people who elected him is bad taste on steroids.
Second of all, it is King, not Paul, who is talking out of his ass on this issue. Because what the NSA is doing now, it has been doing in some form since George W. Bush was president. As reported by the The New York Times way back in 2005:
Months after the Sept. 11 attacks, President Bush secretly authorized the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on Americans and others inside the United States to search for evidence of terrorist activity without the court-approved warrants ordinarily required for domestic spying, according to government officials.
What’s more, this illicit program has only expanded under Obama, as reported by the Washington Post:
The Obama administration secretly won permission from a surveillance court in 2011 to reverse restrictions on the National Security Agency’s use of intercepted phone calls and e-mails, permitting the agency to search deliberately for Americans’ communications in its massive databases, according to interviews with government officials and recently declassified material.
And, the Post noted, the Obama regime even had restrictions put in place by the Bush White House removed:
What had not been previously acknowledged is that the court in 2008 imposed an explicit ban — at the government’s request — on those kinds of searches, that officials in 2011 got the court to lift the bar and that the search authority has been used.
Memo to King: If this program was illegal under Bush (and it was) guess what? It’s way more illegal under Obama. Snowden may not be a hero to everyone but he is a classic whistleblower and someone that the federal Whistleblower Protection Act was designed to protect. James Clapper, a political appointee, is a liar, pure and simple. And anyway, Paul called for both men to "share a jail cell."
What’s more, the program is not doing what King and others say it is – protecting the country by catching terrorists. The Boston Marathon bombings laid waste to that lie, but a subsequent White House panel also found, officially, that blanket NSA surveillance had stopped no major terrorist plots.
So, who’s the bigger threat to American principles of constitutionalism – Peter King, who supports unfettered, uninhibited, continuous blanket NSA surveillance of all Americans, warrant or no, and without probable cause, or Rand Paul, who is building a class-action lawsuit to get the program killed off and put the NSA back in its proper role of conducting primarily foreign surveillance?
Yes, the lamestream media’s characterization of all Republicans as “extremists” and “threats” to the country is, of course, as politically motivated as it is incorrect. But just every now and then, along comes a crazy-ass Republican who proves them right.
Thanks, Peter King, for playing right into the libs’ hands. You’re position on this issue as tone deaf as it is stupid.

You’re right. Back in the 60’s Hoover’s FBI collected political dirt on anyone in government, making Hoover untouchable. Information (on your opponents) is power in Washington. The NSA collects 1000X more political info now than the FBI of the 1960’s. They’ve got the dirt on everyone for the sole purpose of protecting the NSA and providing the ruling elites with a hidden means of control.
With all RINOs, their only goal is RULE (whatever is left) or RUIN.
Whatever slim slip of power is left to the GOP—it must belong to them, and ONLY to them.
A day or so after Peter King made those outrageous comments, his name appeared on the guest roster for Meet the Press.
Predictable and sad.
Peter King’s positions and priorities are identical to McCain and Grahamnesty’s.
They only have one, they want things back like they were in 2002 and 2003 with our all powerful and growing government trusted for ‘keeping us safe’

Of the three, King is the dumbest. He is so stupid, that outside of the political arena where his “handlers” manipulate him, he is too dumb to even get out of his own way.

Not that I agree with Rand Paul on many things .... and I'm still wooly and under-educated on the Snowden affair and its sequelae. (I realize lots of RiNO's think, with the rest of the PTB -- or tell us they think it -- that Snowden's been a KGB/FSB asset from the jump, and that Vladimir Putin is running him like a toy train.)
But King is clearly being a) a RiNOmax and a b) a PTB mouthpiece, and I'd appreciate it if he, rather than Rand Paul, would cultivate a Trappist's sense of seemly silence.
