Medicaid enrollment meeting goals, private insurance falling short [WA]

In the push to make health-care coverage more widespread, Washington is meeting its goals for boosting the number of people covered by Medicaid, while the state is lagging in its enrollment in the new health insurance marketplace.

By Jan. 2, more than 121,258 adults newly eligible for Medicaid had enrolled in the program, which locally goes by the name Washington Apple Health. That number was just a few hundred short of the program’s goal, and an additional 6,000 people have enrolled since the beginning of the month, a state spokesman said Tuesday night.

More than 71,205 Washington residents and their families have signed up for and made their first payment for private health insurance available through the insurance exchange, found at Washington Healthplanfinder. The state originally set a goal of 130,000 enrollees by Jan. 1.

A little more than half the goal have enrolled and paid for private insurance through the exchange. They have been older than expected, however [UNEXPECTED].

Please no comments about Medicaid Estate Recovery. The provisions applying to Expanded Medicaid enrollees in Washington State has been repealed, except for long-term care costs.

Washington is meeting its goals for boosting the number of people covered by Medicaid

Strange, I thought the goal was to reduce the number of people on welfare.

So people are signing up to get more government handouts but aren’t signing up to be forced to pay for insurance that they don’t need or want? What a shock.

There’s the free stuff, and the expensive stuff that is supposed to pay for the free stuff. People don’t want the latter because they can’t afford it, and they can’t get the free stuff because Democrats don’t like them.

They are moving the goal posts. In 2012,

320,000 were expected to enroll in Medicaid
410,000 were expected to enroll in private insurance on the exchange

So, the taxpayers will be left to pick up:

1. All of the new Medicaid costs.

2. All of the Obamacare subsidy costs.

3. And the payoff to all the health insurance companies who failed to profit from a.) a meager Obamacare enrollment and b.) the unbalanced risk pool.

Wonder when the CBO will be pulling its next Obamacare cost estimate...

More fartgas propaganda from the Newthink pigs in the (what’sleftofthewhitehouse) farmhouse.

And the Orwellian sheep in the msm blink their eyes 5 times, and wander off bleating the “new” message.

Holder needs serious prison time.
