Christie Faces Scandal on Traffic Jam Aides Ordered
NY Times ^

The mystery of who closed two lanes onto the George Washington Bridge — turning the borough of Fort Lee, N.J., into a parking lot for four days in September — exploded into a full-bore political scandal for Gov. Chris Christie on Wednesday. Emails and texts revealed that a top aide had ordered the closings to punish the town’s mayor after he did not endorse the governor for re-election.

“Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee,” Bridget Anne Kelly, a deputy chief of staff to Mr. Christie, emailed David Wildstein, a high school friend of the governor who worked at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs the bridge.

Later text messages mocked concerns that school buses filled with students were stuck in gridlock: “They are the children of Buono voters,” Mr. Wildstein wrote, referring to Mr. Christie’s opponent Barbara Buono.

The emails are striking in their political maneuvering, showing Christie aides gleeful about some of the chaos that resulted. Emergency vehicles were delayed in responding to three people with heart problems and a missing toddler, and commuters were left fuming. One of the governor’s associates refers to the mayor of Fort Lee as “this little Serbian,” and Ms. Kelly exchanges messages about the plan while she is in line to pay her respects at a wake.

IIRC, in the run-up to the 2006 elections, the media found a lot of Republican "scandals" involving people who were not (necessarily) running for office. But it created a period of a year or so in which the entire country could think "those Republicans are stupid/corrupt/mean/incompetent". When the 2006 elections actually came, the ground was set for big Democrat victories in many locations.

2014 ought to be shaping up as a bad year for Democrats. So, obviously, it's time to start rolling out a long list of bad news events for various Republicans. Set the stage. Try to recover 2014 for the Democrats. The media is on the case.

Poll: Do you think Gov. Christie ordered political retaliation against the Fort Lee mayor?

I think he did. Why would someone support Buono?

Yeah, a little late for that...!

It’s amazing though reading the rejoicing liberal comments in the NY Slimes article. They really have no clue that Christie is not a conservative whatsoever and that this nasty behavior is SOP for their corrupt side. Stupid liberals only know how to play checkers when they really need to learn chess. And they see only labels.

I don’t think they realize that this scandal will probably trash Krispy Kreme’s aspirations for 2016, which will in turn allow the RNC a real chance to run an actual conservative.

Bingo. This is Hilliary’s minons and the media already hard at work destroying those they view as potential contenders against Hilliary. I bet they have a list 10-15 people deep that their polling and inside info tell them are the ones who would run against Hilliary and Christie is just the first. That is also the reason that although Christie is Democrat lite, he must be put down because he qualifies as a threat from the left no less.

“The comments section is closed.”

Freaking NY Slimes has gone and closed their comment section on the article. Drudge links, comments closed. That seems to be the trend these days.

Buncha liberal weenie cowards! They should re-open that comments sections so they can be schooled on what a RINO is...

If this scandal removes Christie from the choice of the uninformed Republican primary voters, then they will surely turn to Jebbie waiting in the wings.

Hey maybe this is a stupid question but how the heck did the press get their paws on a pile of personal emails and text messages?? Anyone know?

I haven’t found any reference to that in any of the articles I’ve been reading...

IMO, there is no way Christie did not know about this! He was involved from the get-go. Absolutely!
He needs to resign immediately. He is finished and deservedly so!
I dislike him and his bullying ways.

Well whaddaya know? No one is madder about this than Chris Christie! He just found out about it and is furious! (That sounds awfully familiar.)

As contemptible as this whole situation is, I would much rather spend an hour stuck in traffic on the George Washington Bridge than be audited by the IRS. If we’re going to start blaming chief executives for the crimes of those working under them then we must take another look at what the IRS has been up to lately and who is ultimately responsible for that.

“how the heck did the press get their paws on a pile of personal emails and text messages?? Anyone know?”

From the article:

“The documents were obtained by The New York Times and other news outlets Wednesday. They are heavily redacted by Mr. Wildstein, who turned them over under a subpoena from Democratic legislators investigating the lane closing”

This fat dim-o-drone has a vast history of revenge and anger at those that oppose him. He is a pos progressive and his love affair with obama and his helping to throw the election in 2012 are proof that it was payback for being passed over at the convention... which BTW was the worst republican convention in my lifetime. Clint was the only thing that allowed me to watch it.
