Who knew that Hasidic Jews could rock out like this? Certainly not me.
We all know what "oy vey" and "oy gevalt" mean (at least those of us who grew up in Jewish households), but if any Freepers are fluent enough in Yiddish to provide a translation for the rest of it, I'd love to see it.
Sounds sort of like a live Yiddish "Gangnam Style," without the production values.
Instead of kvetching, it make me plotz!
the Hasids are rocking folk- MC Hammer be damned....then again they’ve got nothing on Matisyahu:

I dunno. Davening with a bounce?
I think that video has been cut and spliced to match the music.
Two Live Jews did this stuff years ago....As Kosher As You Want To Be..................
Might mean “Crazy People”
Mishuggena Menschen. (My spelling highly questionable.)
No matter how you present it; hip hop is to music as Etch-a-Sketch is to art.
Rap is rap, no matter the complexion or proclivities of the perpetrator, and I don’t enjoy it.
I hesitate to ping you, but...
I’m betting neither of you watched the video.
P.S> I don’t much like rap music either.
I don’t like it at all. This video uses a doctored derisive overlay of sophomoric audio to a looped showing of a recording of a Chassidic celebration. That is not the music of the actual event. The Yiddish lyric that has been superimposed on the footage is saying over and over that these exuberant attendees of the gathering are insane. Chassidis as a philosophy does emphasize the joy in the belief in God and living life according to God’s commandments. The comments at YouTube show that this video is bringing and inciting vicious anti-Semites out of the woodwork, who are posting hateful stereotype baiting about a vulnerable minority group.
I don’t believe the music actually goes with the pep rally.
I couldn’t listen to it for more than 5 seconds, so no translation, sorry.
I think Seeing More Clearly is right. Perhaps I should have realized that this music was dubbed in later, but I didn’t.
I have asked the moderator to remove the entire thread.
So glad you did that. I was horrified at the awful comments at YouTube. I wonder how somebody got a copy of the video and made this ugly piece of trash. Somebody has a really sick sense of humor.

Mishuggena Menschen means crazy good people........
I am thus edified and instructed. Thanks.
I know “mensch” contains a note of Good Guy, but I guess I was combing the more German meaning of menschen — people, meant plainly. In the context, I think you’re more right with “crazy good people.”
