Stockman Slams Cornyn's Bloomberg Bill

Congressman Steve Stockman announced Wednesday he is organizing opposition to an anti-gun control bill to be introduced this year by U.S. Senators John Cornyn and Lindsay Graham, which appears to closely follow an Executive Order issued last Friday by President Barack Obama.

Cornyn announced the bill in an interview this month with traditionally liberal “Texas Monthly” magazine. According to Cornyn the “Graham-Cornyn Mental Health and Criminal Justice Reform Act” expands the National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) system to include Americans who have sought treatment for mental health issues. The bill seems to be nearly identical to an Executive Order issued last Friday by Obama.

“Cornyn’s Bloomberg Bill is the Holy Grail of gun control,” said Stockman. “Cornyn’s Bloomberg Bill is an aggressive expansion of the anti-gun agenda. Unable to ban guns they are now banning law-abiding gun owners, and Cornyn is leading the charge.”

“John Cornyn has opened a new front in the Left's War on Guns by now seeking to ban law-abiding gun owners. Cornyn’s Bloomberg Bill is the same gun control bill demanded by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and appears to be nearly identical to Barack Obama's latest Executive Order,” said Stockman. “With Republicans like Cornyn who needs Democrats?”

Cornyn’s examples of those to be stripped of their Second Amendment rights under his bill were people who sought treatment, but had no criminal record and had never been deemed a threat by doctors or a court.

“It throws millions of Americans on a lifetime gun ban list without a court hearing or due process of law. Even worse, Cornyn’s Bloomberg Bill strips military veterans of their constitutional rights just for speaking to a medical professional about their combat experience,” said Stockman. “There is nothing more un-American than stripping law-abiding veterans of their constitutional rights.”

. . . .organizing opposition to an anti-gun control bill . . .

Given the context and content, I find this phrase to be semantically untenable.

I wrote on this yesterday on another thread. Cornyn’s bill just enforces Hussein's executive order last Friday. The order clears the way for his Homeland Security/FBI, etc., to get records of those who have gone to a mental health clinic. Don't go to a psychiatrist, psychologist, professional counselor who performs psychological examinations. Your family doctor cannot give you a DSM-V mental diagnosis. Only the ones I mentioned above can do that.

About a month ago, I went to my family doctor to renew prescriptions and they check my vitals, etc. I specifically ask him if the govn. could get my medical records. He said they are on the office's computer and the govn. can get them anything they want.

Now, I get home and look at the sheet he gave me which has a summary of what he did while I was there. I take a prescription for fibromyalgia that is Amitriptyline because it stop excess electricity going to my muscles so they don't hurt. Amitriptyline years ago was given in large doses to combat depression. After the medicine came out, they discovered it also, in small doses, controlled excess muscle action.

On that sheet it lists I am taking Amitriptyline FOR DEPRESSION. Absolutely not true. The next time I go there, I will make damn sure that is changed right then. If any of you get a summary sheet at the end of a doctor visit, check that sheet and make sure their sheet is right. I think their computer program automatically stuck “depression” on there because the med was Amitriptyline.

Me have depression? Hell, no, I put other people into depression, not me.

1) You can't own a gun if you're crazy.

2) If you want a gun, you're crazy.

Liberal Logic 101.

Stockman can win the Primary on this one issue alone. He needs to ride this horse until it crosses the finish line to victory.

I would agree. While I recognized Cornyn as a RINO (Texas variety, which is not as virulent as the northeast variety) quite a while ago, many others here in TX merely have a bit of unease about him without being able to name a particular reason for that feeling. Well, now they have a DAMNED GOOD REASON!

SHEEEEEIT, Cornyn! It would be bad enough to let such a bill go through the Senate without opposing it, and worse to vote for it. But to FREAKING SPONSOR THE DAMNED THING is downright TREASON (especially for a Texan). Time for you to go, @$$wipe!

Cotton, I am sending this to everyone I know here in TX who shoots, and asking them to do the same. I think that it would be a huge help in getting rid of Cornyn to ping the entire Texas contingent of FReepers and ask them to do the same...but I don’t know how to do this.

Fellow Texans: I’m sending this to you because I either know that you are a pro-gun Texan, or your handle makes such obvious. Sorry to bother you, but this is very important.

Please read the subject article about Cornyn’s impending bill to severely limit ownership of guns - and then get busy sending this information to everyone you know in the state who is pro-gun, so that we can run Cornyn out of office in the primary election. This kind of garbage I expect out of a Northeastern RINO, not a Texas Senator.

How can it be an anti gun control bill when the result is more gun control?
