sorry may be kidney failure going off what I remember my doc told me. my doc used to prescribe it for my gout, 2 pills and then one every hour until the runs start. they changed that to 2 pill day one and one pill for five days. He told me they had many cases of kidney or liver damage with the other doseage. but then again, they only perscribe me seven pills now, in case something starts. Wouldn’t wish that on anyone, except for maybe a certain democrat or two.
My prescription is 1 every 4 hours but I can avoid the triggers pretty well. My wife accidentally bought a 6-pack of Pale Ale thinking it was Amber Ale. I gave that away immediately. That’s Gout in a bottle.

Not exactly. Legal restrictions by states started in 1906. By the mid-30s it was regulated or prohibited as a drug in every state. A 1937 Act made possession or sale a federal crime, for other than medicinal reasons.
I did a term paper in college on marijuana, long before the Spin on it began.
In the first half of the century, marijuana smoking became associated with sloth, non-conformity and immorality. That led the politicians to outlaw it in order to “preserve society”. It was widely believed that marijuana smokers would quit being productive and become free loaders, even to the point of demanding to be supported by the government.
Alcohol was preference of the working man, including hard-working politicians.
It kept that reputation until the hippies turned marijuana into the intelligentsia drug.
It didn’t help that I attended a University that was and is still known as a prominent “Weed School”.
They didn't exactly make posession a crime. Hemp was still being grown as a commodity crop. The Marijuana Tax Act was presented to Congress as a tax on production. You were supposed to buy tax stamps according to how much you grew. You had to bring it in to have it weighed to buy the stamps, but if you did they wouldn't sell you the stamps. They just arrested you for posession of marijuana that didn't have the stamps.
what beers do you recommend? I’ve noticed some really trigger it but haven’t quite figured out which do and don’t.

Most likely from contaminated pot or mixing with tobacco. I knew a fella who got pneumonia from smoking slightly moldy pot.
I know people that chain smoke the high grade stuff like some people smoke cigarettes. Some in California for decades. They don’t touch tobacco at all. None have lung issues and several are former athletes still in top condition.
The people I know with the worst lungs are those who mixed it with tobacco for years. If you put both in a pipe, it forms a gunk that sticks to everything and can’t be removed with a single solvent. IMO, it’s due to the mixing of polar and non-polar tars. 1+ pack a day tobacco smokers are almost as bad.
Puff-for-puff there is no way pure pot is more damaging than tobacco. From what I’ve seen over tobacco is far worse and several studies have backed that up. And tobacco isn’t even that bad unless you consume more than 1/2 a pack a day or have a family history of cancer.
So will simple baking soda and water in a glass each day.

My buddy got his medical marijuana card to help with gout. He smokes the weed to keep away gout, shingles, heartbreak of psoriasis,dandruff, etc.

Anything hoppy is a trigger. Stouts and amber ales usually do not. German lagers do not. But I stick with Natural Light because it is the least likely.
I has a Texas Highway Patrol Officer (and a fairly hardcore one) tell that he once got the Department sued, or almost sued, when he worked a one car accident. The driver was seated on a low wall when the trooper arrived, and gave some mundane reason for running off the road. The trooper took his information for the report, and called for a wrecker, but not am ambulance because the driver insisted he was unhurt. He didn't ask the driver to perform any field sobriety tests because he didn't detect any indication that the man had been drinking, much less was intoxicated. While he talking the driver and waiting for the wrecker another call came in, and as the driver seemed fine the trooper drove off to answer it.
About 30 seconds after he drove out of sight, the driver got back into the car, drove about a few blocks, and died in another one car accident. His blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit. And that, explained the trooper, was why he always asked about drinking and did at least the HGN test (eyes) when working a wreck.

These days I can spot the chronic alcoholic mostly because you can smell it on their person. The acetic acid smell emanates from every pore on their body and their breath. Which is why the driver you describe was out of the vehicle.
My co-worker got tapped in the right rear quarter by a woman who didn’t stop in time and busted the tail light and dented up the trunk. He was an experienced alcoholic, and to the deputy didn’t appear intoxicated but he must have gotten a whiff of it by being down-wind of him. That little comment by the arresting deputy, had my co-worker going to AA and psychologists for years. Nearly broke him of money...never stopped him from drinking. Still a drunk to this day.
