The leader of the Senate Conservatives Fund has become a controversial figure among Republicans for his willingness to back primary candidates against sitting GOP senators in the name of building a more conservative coalition.
Matt Hoskins took over the fundraising operations for the group from former South Carolina GOP Sen. Jim DeMint when he left the Senate in 2012 to head up the conservative Heritage Foundation. Hoskins does most of his business from San Diego County, where he moved a few years ago to be closer to family.
. . . .
In this year's midterm elections, the Senate Conservatives Fund is supporting primary challenges to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Sens. Pat Roberts of Kansas, Thad Cochran of Mississippi, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, and Jeff Flake of Arizona.
. . . .
"They are always looking for someone else to blame," Hoskins said of the sitting senators. "If they don't want to be criticized by conservatives, there is an easy solution; they can stop voting with Democrats."
While the group under DeMint backed conservative candidates for the Senate, it did not challenge Republican incumbents as a general rule. But DeMint praised the group in a statement to Politico.
"The Senate Conservatives Fund has been critical to helping elect new conservative leaders like Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Mike Lee, Rand Paul, and others," DeMint said. "But it hasn't been successful because of any one person; it's thousands and thousands of concerned citizens from across the country uniting to help conservatives who are committed to stopping the spending and debt in Washington."

Good riddance to the Rinos. Long live the Senate Conservative Fund!
The Country Club set has no principles or convictions. They just want to get to be big shots. Nothing more.
Try as we might, they can't be dragged into the real fight.
I say let 'em go and do something else more productive and effective.
It's impressive how the message is out. Liz Cheney failing to primary an acceptable Republican Senator and now knowing with proof what a jerk Chris Christie is will strengthen the Senate Conservative Fund and other organizations of true constitutional conservatives even more.
McConnell and the Chamber of Commerce are on the warpath against conservatives, fighting back is “controversial” I guess
....For the first time in my life, I have a monthly auto bank draft in place for a political donation.
It is to the SCF.
If some reading this don’t know, unlike professional money raisers, Hoskin’s deal is 100% of the money you send in finds it’s way to a candidate.
Good news
Obviously SCF is having a huge effect as the RINOS, Collective of Communists, and other RINO groups are having to cough up $$$
Exactly! Where are all the Rinos that should be defending Christie?
They are no where to be found.
Idiot RINOs. If they don’t like challengers, they can go back to the smoke-filled room technique [and become extinct within a decade.]
SCF gets my $$$$. The RINOs are tiresome and arrogant. They ALL need to go. Bye...bye.
Proud Senate Conservatives Fund Donor, checking in!
...fixed.
Good. Nobody should get a free pass. Look at Liz Cheney.
In 2014, we need to go RINO hunting.
