It's the end of an era for a popular discount retailer that got its start in Brooklyn.
Loehmann's has begun liquidating its inventory of discounted designer clothing after filing for bankruptcy last month.
The retail store traces its roots back more than 90 years when it opened its first-ever store in Crown Heights in 1921.

I have never been in their store. I would assume they were an upscale dept store just by their name alone. I have never even drove by one of their store as I remember.
Loehmann’s was a chain of off-price department stores in the United States. Loehmann’s was best known for its “Back Room,” where women interested in fashion can find designer clothes at prices lower than in department or specialty stores.
