I remember that February evening seeing the Beatles for the first time on Ed Sullivan.
They are STILL the #1 requested songwriters by my guitar (pre-teen)students, closely followed by the Stones, with occasional forays into Pink Floyd, the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, and the Doors.
But ALWAYS the Beatles.

FIFTY YEARS AGO TODAYThis was a combination of two different songs, one of which had been a hit two years before by The Rivingtons. For failing to credit them as composers , this band ended up in court. It came in at #7 this week. This has been a song recorded by many, to include the Ramones and Pee-Wee Herman.
