Port Authority rife with ugly politics

The scandal isn’t just that a top aide to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie ordered up massive gridlock at the Fort Lee entrance to the George Washington Bridge in retaliation for the Fort Lee mayor’s refusal to endorse Christie’s re-election bid. It’s that Port Authority officials went ahead with that political hit.

In a two-hour news conference Thursday, Christie said he was “humiliated” by the actions of his PA appointee, Bill Baroni, Baroni’s subordinate and old Christie classmate David Wildstein and top gubernatorial aide Bridget Anne Kelly, all now quit or fired.

But this can’t just be fixed by resignations and firings — and not just because the stunt caused life-threatening gridlock when ambulances couldn’t get through. The biggest outrage is that the Port Authority is making any decisions based on raw short-term politics.

Talk about media living in a bubble...Well no, more like “Talk about media using long held knowledge to their political advantage”.

Like anyone exists on the planet that doesn’t know how corrupt NY/NJ are. Especially the Mafia...er Port Authority.

Whether Christi knew it or not does not paint the true picture. Christi plays hard ball politics in a corrupt state. I would suspect he is just as corrupt as the democrat politicos in his state. No high ranking assistant to the governor would do something like this on her own unless she thought it is politics as usual.

If Christi did not know about this, and I suspect he did not, why in the hell would he hire some of his closets staffers that would do such things?

The democrats in New Jersey are corrupt and I would suspect the same of Christi. I suspect the democrats have killed the candidacy of the Republican that would be a sure loss to the democrat.

Thank You democrats!

I just finished reading THE POWER BROKER by Robert Caro. The PA was set up that way, and seems to be beyond the control of any government entity.

US Attorney in New Jersey Seeks FBI’s Help in Bridge-Gate Probe
Thursday, January 9, 2014 11:01 AM

By: Newsmax Wires

The U.S. attorney in New Jersey is opening an inquiry into claims that public officials orchestrated the massive traffic snarl on the busy George Washington Bridge to settle a political score — and has asked the FBI to help.

The probe announcement came Thursday as Gov. Chris Christie, a possible Republican White House contender, spent the day addressing the brewing scandal over his staff’s role in orchestrating the traffic jam after a local mayor declined to endorse Christie’s re-election bid.
