What a beautiful story.
My older sisters told me that my Mother’s love and care was the only thing which kept me alive when I was a baby. I had the whooping cough. I do remember Mother telling me that my arms and legs wasted away until they were no large than one’s fingers.

it even happens with pets. had one little guy who was older and very sick and i spent the night with him in a animal emergency clinic just holding him while he was on a drip. telling him we wouldn’t give up on im, what a good boy he was, etc.
he’s sitting on the ottoman in front of me right now.
