Chris Christie faces probe for alleged misuse of Sandy funds
Chicago Tribune ^ | 01/13/2014

U.S. investigators are looking into whether embattled New Jersey Governor Chris Christie misused about $2 million in Superstorm Sandy relief funds for an ad campaign that put him in the spotlight in an election year, a lawmaker said on Monday. Already enmeshed in a scandal over snarled traffic at the George Washington Bridge, Christie, a rising star in the Republican party, is now being audited by the Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, said New Jersey Congressman Frank Pallone Jr., a Democrat.

The inspector is focusing on a federally financed $25 million Jersey Shore marketing campaign that included a television commercial featuring Christie and his family, which cost $2 million more than a competing bid without them.

"It is inappropriate for taxpayer-funded dollars that are critical to our state's recovery from this natural disaster to fund commercials that could potentially benefit a political campaign," Pallone said in an August 8, 2013 letter requesting the investigation.

Christie’s slobbering embrace of Obama was the height of political naivete. He tried to curry politcal favor with Obama but all he got in return was that Obama is going to kick him while he’s down. Christie is getting his just deserts.

I would never vote for him but this crap is ridiculous.

Christie didn’t get Brian Terry killed.

Christie didn’t leave our ambassador and others in Benghazi to die and then lie about it and promote the face of the lie.

Christie didn’t send 30,000 troops to Afghanistan for a mission he didn’t believe in.

I think the main reason Christie's being roasted on the spit right now is to distract from the disaster that is ObamaCare.

Benghazi treason or TV commercial,
Benghazi treason or TV commercial,
one of life’s difficult decisions.

If they can’t dig up any damaging facts, the Democrat controlled media will destroy him through innuendo. They are not going to let this go.

Christie is certainly responsible for giving the impression that Obama is a leader and in charge during the Hurricane fiasco...this took votes away from Romney.

.....to me, this picture, in and of itself, shows just how naive or just plain dumb this man is.......

I mean he was bound to know there were cameras clicking, an important Presidential election underway, the depth of anger in his own party towards this President and so on and so on! But, he hugged old Obama and pranced down the street anyway thereby creating instantly millions of deep, deep enemies, myself being one! Prior to seeing him hugging Obama, I was trying to keep an open mind about the guy. Now, I’m “crystal clear”.....

This is very entertaining, and should serve as a warning to Republicans

*********
You’re right, it SHOULD be a lesson. But to expect the spineless Republicans to learn from it is probably asking too much.

Absolutely true. The self-centered Christie, and is certainly that, was only thinking of himself. His embrace of Obama was viewed by many as a sort of endorsement for Obama’s “leadership”. Unfortunately this occurred at a critical juncture during the election and definitely hurt Romney.

It is amazing how the MSM and talking head have covered the Christie blunder but swept the Benghazi murders under the carpet by reporting lies about what happened...to protect the Community Organizer and Hillary Clinton

a television commercial featuring Christie and his family, which cost $2 million more than a competing bid without them.

OK, I know they guy is pretty fat, but does it really cost 2 million more to film a commercial with him in it, than one without him in it?

Does he have naming rights or something?

My guess is the journalist is an idiot, or the democrat is an idiot, or both of them are idiots, and that the issue is that they SPENT 2 million dollars AIRING the commercial that included the family -- NOT that it cost that much to MAKE the commercial.

Fat Bass Turd should've read the fable about the frog and the scorpion.

One day, a scorpion looked around at the mountain where he lived and decided that he wanted a change. So he set out on a journey through the forests and hills. He climbed over rocks and under vines and kept going until he reached a river.

The river was wide and swift, and the scorpion stopped to reconsider the situation. He couldn't see any way across. So he ran upriver and then checked downriver, all the while thinking that he might have to turn back.

Suddenly, he saw a frog sitting in the rushes by the bank of the stream on the other side of the river. He decided to ask the frog for help getting across the stream.

"Hellooo Mr. Frog!" called the scorpion across the water, "Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?"

"Well now, Mr. Scorpion! How do I know that if I try to help you, you wont try to kill me?" asked the frog hesitantly.

"Because," the scorpion replied, "If I try to kill you, then I would die too, for you see I cannot swim!"

Now this seemed to make sense to the frog. But he asked. "What about when I get close to the bank? You could still try to kill me and get back to the shore!"

"This is true," agreed the scorpion, "But then I wouldn't be able to get to the other side of the river!"

"Alright then...how do I know you wont just wait till we get to the other side and THEN kill me?" said the frog.

"Ahh...," crooned the scorpion, "Because you see, once you've taken me to the other side of this river, I will be so grateful for your help, that it would hardly be fair to reward you with death, now would it?!"

So the frog agreed to take the scorpion across the river. He swam over to the bank and settled himself near the mud to pick up his passenger. The scorpion crawled onto the frog's back, his sharp claws prickling into the frog's soft hide, and the frog slid into the river. The muddy water swirled around them, but the frog stayed near the surface so the scorpion would not drown. He kicked strongly through the first half of the stream, his flippers paddling wildly against the current.

Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from the frog's back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs.

"You fool!" croaked the frog, "Now we shall both die! Why on earth did you do that?"

. "I could not help myself. It is my nature." Then they both sank into the muddy waters of the swiftly flowing river.

Good art work with the exception that Obama’s face should appear on his own shirt.

Throw enough mud at ANYBODY and it will stick.

The drive-by media is gearing up for another primary season dmeolition derby. Since Christie was at the head of the Republican Pack - like him or not - and I don’t - they are mauling HIM today.

Tomorrow it will be whoever else rises to the top.

If worse comes to worse, they always round up a bunch of bimbos and accuse the next guy of having an affair or making “inapprpriate” advances. Proof is not needed - accusations are adequate since ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, etc are all part of the same left-wing plot to tarnish Republicans and make Hillary look like the Second Coming of Obama.

We don’t have freedom of the press here. We need some well-bankrolled conservatives to BUY UP one of the mainstream media stations OR MORE and start braodcasting OUR message. FOX is too “Fair and Balanced”.

It's not the "R"...its the fact that he has the gall to think of running against the hildabeest that ticks them off....
