Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tx) says he is optimistic that some sort of immigration reform can be considered and possibly approved by Congress this year.
But Cornyn told 1200 WOAI news it won't be the 'comprehensive' type of immigration reform that the White House is demanding.
"Particularly after the failure of Obamacare, the people are very skeptical of thousand page bills," Cornyn said.
He says there is talk among Senate Republicans of a 'bit by bit' approach, which could include an expansion in the visa program for people who attend and graduate from college in the United States.

Here is my immigration reform. Find an illegal and deport them but first whack off an ear so we can tell what he is when and if he comes back. I got online to contribute to Stockman but stopped when it was required of me to fill out a form that included my employer and occupation.

That will anger about half of all conservative talk radio hosts who are firmly in Cornyn’s corner. I won’t say names but have heard many of them supposed Tea Party non-Rino’s in Texas back Cornyn.

There’s no question I’m voting for anyone but Cornyn.
Job growth is this country isn’t even keeping pace with birth rate and they want to give 20+ million illegals amnesty so American citizens have even more competition for the few job available.
Every politician in Washington save one or two is a flat out traitor....and not just the push on amnesty either.
Bless Cornyn’s pea pickin’ heart, he just has to keep straddlin’ that fence. He just has to stay “friends” with his democrat lawyers.
I've been seeing non-stop ads alleging that Stockman is a crook. They're paid for by some "Texas conservatives" group, but it's obviously the work of Cornhole (who will not get my vote, regardless).
Steve King was the only Republican to vote against H1B visa increases. Steve King is the only Republican courting moderate and white collar voters. Ive seen Steve King on CSPAN and seen Democrats say they dont like him on abortion and calling out Obama’s racism but agree with him on immigration.
NRSC chairman Jerry Moran tried to put an amendment into Harry Reid’s Unemployment benefits bill.
