TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will propose extending the public school calendar and lengthening the school day in a speech he hopes will help him rebound from an apparent political payback scheme that threatens to damage his second term and could cut short any ambitions to run for president.

According to excerpts of his State of the State address obtained by The Associated Press, Christie, an early front-runner for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, will make the case Tuesday that children who spend more time in school graduate better prepared academically. Details of the plan will be left for another day.

Jeb might be the best...but he is a Bush. And there are plenty of Bush Bashers right here on FR (mostly Dem infiltraitors I always say).

Well, in my circle I know on e Jeb supporter, 90% "No Bushes", the remainder frothed at the mouth and were incoherent.

I know mostly Reps and Unaffil.

I guess JimRob must be the biggest infiltrator of them all.

He might be the best of the three Bushes bandied.

Seriously, though, I really don't like the dynasty/royalty thing in a Democratic Republic. A Bush/Clinton election would bring us toward a competing monarchic lines type of thing. I would say the same thing if it were Michael Reagan vs. the great-great-great-grandson of the last tolerable Dem (Cleveland?). Okay, maybe I'd prefer that last matchup, but only because it's been a while.

It's not about a monarchy. It's about talent and experience.

Look at the Adams family.

I don't have to look far. They're in my family tree. John Q. was generally not well regarded, which is why he was a one-termer.

But it actually is about de facto monarchy. In-breeding with political offices means that the "in"s get to reinforce their ties, keeping everyone else out until you get a French Revolution scenario.

Do you think many right-thinking people really took the notion that Kim Jung-Il was the most qualified man to take Kim Il_Sung's place, and it had nothing to do with famly connections? Well, that was their story and their sticking to it.

Do you REALLY think that there is no one better qualified and willing to take the job than Jeb Bush or HRC?

Call me a Dem infiltrator if you like, but if Jeb Bush gets the nomination, I'm writing in Terri Schindler.

Here, here. Bush, I or II, undid Reagan’s work, largely.

If they left a legacy, it was:

“Reagan, well, he really didn’t mean it.”

More time for government indoctrination? No, thanks.

Hate to tell you, many real conservatives absolutely despise the Bushes and blame them for the state of the GOP. And those FR “Day in the life” worshipfest threads were revolting.

As for Christie, if the schools keep the kids longer, there’s more time for smoking crack.
