For a long time, the communist left has used the word "progressive" to cloak its agenda. This phenomenon is hardly new. It has gone on since at least the 1930s, not long after the American Communist Party was founded in Chicago.
I know this well, having written at length on the subject. You might have thought this strategy died with the USSR, when we won the Cold War and once >defeated communism. Unfortunately, thanks to the left's takeover of education and media, it continues unabated, and is moving full steam ahead in Barack Obama's fundamentally transformed America, where the far left seems invigorated unlike ever before. The communist left has sudden new energy in the "progressive" mayoral victory of Bill De Blasio, the New York mayor who once raised money for the Nicaraguan communists and honeymooned in Castro's Cuba.
Handy evidence of how communists continue to exploit the "progressive" label isn't hard to find. It's always just a click away at the website of People's World, the house organ of Communist Party USA and successor publication to the Daily Worker (which throughout its existence received Kremlin oversight and funding). People's World is very shrewd in the words it chooses to use, and not use.
Predictably, People's World is thrilled with New Yorkers electing Bill De Blasio. The CPUSA mouthpiece isn't silent in its enthusiasm, though it is carefully avoiding the "c" word (communism) in favor of the "p" word (progressivism). In this, it is not unlike Bill De Blasio himself. Notably, too, People's World links De Blasio's "forward" success and "change" vision with Barack Obama's "progress" (as does De Blasio). Witness two fresh articles:
The first, covering De Blasio's inauguration, was titled…

Well, duhhh....big surprise...NOT.
The Commies have the POTUS, and are about to create the USSA.
Leftists have been very successful in relabeling & remarketing...
Marxist -> communist -> progressive -> liberal -> progressive (again)
homosexuality -> gay
Killing unborn children -> prochoice
pedophilia -> man-boy love
Just giving kudos out to their own.
This should be a clue to our media—communists cheering. If it isn’t then it should remove all doubt about our media being of the same mind as communists.
Hillary should just shuck the “Progressive” label and run as a Communist in 2016. As long as she promises the unwashed that they will get other people’s money, she’ll win...perhaps in a landslide.
At another blog, the resident ‘Progressive’ now considers the President and himself conservative.
He uses Michael Gerson, who coined the phrase ‘compassionate conservatism’ that President Bush ran with, as his reference.
Un friggin believable, I say.
THERE’S as ringing endorsement!
What a crowd of treasonous criminals we have in office!!
“When you rob Peter to pay Paul... you can pretty much count on the cooperation of Paul.”
As bad if not worse than neo-nazis. Worse because there is no public rebuke of Communists in academia, politics, or media.
But of course. For the first time in about a century, unmasked out-of-the-closet Communism is actually winning American elections.
No surprise there.
Odd, isn't it?
Figures
One can always trust communists to be communists.
IMHO
Orwell made it his mission in life, in the few years remaining to him after WW II, to warn people about the Communists' misuse of language to baffle and enslave.
The night before the Reds stormed the Winter Palace in the 1917 "October Revolution", the Russian Communist Party's politburo stayed up all night, arguing. They weren't visiting their troops waiting in the cold to assault the palace and government offices, they weren't talking field strategy.
They were arguing over what to rename the government ministries after they took them over, to inoculate them against the effects of 20 years of Communist propaganda.
The Russian people could not be allowed to draw the correct inference, that the Communist revolution was not about taking apart the old government and its "organs", but about taking it all into receivership and operating it as an existing enterprise, just under new managers.
"Meet the new boss,/ Same as the old boss."

Not enough people know what that means or implies.
Unfortunately.
