In short, you cannot meaningfully tell me how the establishment Republicans differ from Democrats on at least two of the points I raised:

I make that observation by way of the fact that you remain unresponsive to those topics. You prefer, instead, to question who I intend to vote for in 2016 -- despite the fact there are no candidates selected to vote for!!

You got nothin'. I do appreciate your candor.

To this very important admission on your part:

You know, when this website first started up, it was chock full of Republicans and most here spoke with one purpose in mind, defeating Dems. Mike Huckabee, then admired, and his band played at the Freeper Inaugural Ball. Now there are hardly any left here.

This lament is your clearest admission that you are an establishment Republican, and not a Conservative. You are absolutely correct, there used to be many establishment Republicans here. Hell, I was one. Then we got wise. See, this is a CONSERVATIVE forum, not a Republican one. To refer to the mission statement: "Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!"

So as you establishment Republicans continued to drift to the left, you lost us. To paraphrase Reagan: We didn't leave the Republican party, they left us.

Oh, and as an aside: I remember the Freeper Inaugural Ball. I was there. In fact, I was responsible for authoring and executing the centerpiece computer presentation that kicked it off. Perhaps you remember that presentation. Huckabee and Barr both congratulated me on my work.

At any rate, thank you for your exceedingly clear admission to your affiliation with establishment Republicans, no matter how liberal they become.

“At any rate, thank you for your exceedingly clear admission to your affiliation with establishment Republicans, no matter how liberal they become.”

Please don’t make things up out of whole cloth. It is exceedingly unbecoming of you. The vast majority of Republicans are not liberal nor have they ever been. You and your ilk (like Norm)have made sure that these political threads are unfriendly to ALL Republicans, of ALL stripes, conservative, moderate, or otherwise. You make no distinctions. So now all Republicans are unwelcome in your eyes. Only what you call conservatives with no seeming party distinction or affiliation it seems is what you want on this website. So what is that kind of conservative named exactly. From what party, or from a new party, from no party, what exactly are you and those that think like you.

How do you plan to ever get anything done politically, if not through some party somewhere? Are the other 3rd parties out there not to your liking? Why don’t you say you are operating within one of the other 3rd parties if you don’t like the Republicans? Do you want to start your own 3rd party? I mean, if none of the other myriad of 3rd parties are not to your purist liking (if one is, please designate which one you affiliate with) then when do you plan to start your own? And how long before the 3rd Party that you and other disgruntled once Republican Freepers want to start up if you do, before you are disgruntled with your own 3rd party also because it won’t think exactly like you, or be 100% pure on all issues. After all, the more members that would join up in your hypothetical new 3rd party, the more there will be differences of opinion. Just like how the Tea Partiers have broken up into many different organizations when once they banded together, due to disagreements among themselves. How long before you will want to shed your own 3rd party?

By the time you figure all of this out or get your own party going, our country will have been ruled by Democrats for years, as the Republican party will be deserted by you and other purists, and thus will not be able to win elections. That combined with changing demographics will destroy Republican party candidates from gaining elective offices, to be replaced by nothing for years on end by you and your ilk. And by then we will be forever doomed to a Venezuelan type fascist, socialist Amerika. But as you can’t accept, reality, I am sure this is falling on deaf ears.

Of course, you will not address what I have said and instead will fall back on the old canard of my answering your questions which I already did the first time around regarding the post you pinged my name on. Time for you to answer some of my questions to you. If you don’t, then let’s just end this conversation amicably as you have made it eminently clear that you don’t like Republicans, nor their party, nor do you want them around here anymore. You have cut off the only other large party in the U.S. other than the Dems, and thus there will be nothing to stop those Dems. Luckily I am older and will only have to live so long with the disastrous results that will be caused by nonvoters and 3rd party voters deserting the Republican Party at such a crucial time in our political history.

Or maybe you are just pulling my leg, hah, hah. The joke’s on me, right?

But thanks for you and Norm and the others that think like you do for clarifying that you feel this website is no longer welcoming to any Republicans; I’m sure they will be interested in knowing this, especially as Republicans were virtually the entire base here, by your own admission, from the gitgo. I myself have been on this website from late 1997, first as a lurker, and then signing up as part of what was then known as the Class of 1998. Now there are hardly any members from that Class of 98 left here. Were they purged and/or all run off by feeling unwelcome here, all the members of the Republican Party? They are now all persona non grata? Hmmmmmm.

Ok, now you can go back to your conversation with Norm about the sins of my existence or debating the credibility of my conservative credentials. Have fun. I remain, ... a Republican.
