SOCHI, Russia (AP) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin says gays should feel welcome at the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, but they must "leave the children in peace."

Putin told volunteers Friday that gays visiting Sochi "can feel calm and at ease," and vowed that there would be no discrimination at the games. But he emphasized that, according to a law banning homosexual "propaganda" among minors, gays cannot express their views on gay rights issues to anyone underage.

His pronouncement seems so reasonable, why would anyone protest that rational, and I dare say, sensible request? JUST LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE! How is that so difficult to understand?

If the Gay lobby is upset with that reasonable condition, what is/was, their intentions in Russia to begin with????

But they will not. It's partly a pedophilia thing - which is absolutely out of control among gays (2.7% of the population accounts for 35% of all child molestations). But it's also a "recruiting" thing .... children being so must more easily corrupted than are adults. Thinking gays will voluntarily leave children alone is nativity. Putin has the right idea - severe penalty.

Vlad has - at least of late - done a remarkably good job of making himself look like the rational adult in the room.

Would I want Vladimir Putin for my president? No... but I suspect that he intrinsically hates people such as myself at least a bit less than does Barack Obama.

It never was, totally, as homosexuals would do what it took to have children. With artificial semination being the norm and the acceptance of homosexuals having genetic children, they'll pass that gene on.

What I dislike most about our society is that there is an assumption, even at very young ages, that someone who is not interested in the opposite sex is homosexual. There's a percentage of people who just don't have sexual interests at certain points in their lives. That's probably the case of a lot of teenagers who are labeled gay because they don't want to go to the Jr Prom or whatever.
